For the last three years we've made sure we're putting jungle back in the main room. Three years of DJs bringing their tunes, producers testing new material, old heads reconnecting, and new jungle heads finding their way into the culture.

It hasn't been about chasing trends or trying to make every night the biggest night in LA.
It's been about keeping the music alive and giving junglists somewhere to go.

From the original NYC sessions in ’94, to the first KJLA chapter in ’99, to the resurgence in 2023 the name has continued to represent a place where the music comes first.

What a better way to celebrate the anniversary by bringing out two of the pioneers of LA jungle music, a lot of us wouldn't have heard this music out here if it wasn't for them

R.A.W. Resurrection
4-Pack Mixtape 💀

Available only at
Mictlan Bandcamp

R.A.W. RESURRECTION is a limited 4-pack cassette mixtape housed inside a 12-inch wooden coffin — a true collector's piece made for the die-hard junglist.

Just in time for Halloween… or, even better, as a Christmas gift for the junglist in your life who already has everything. This is a DIY project
at its finest!

THE STORY

Back in 1994, I created the RAW IS DEAD mixtape as a sonic interpretation of an atheist who dies and, upon leaving his physical body and entering Heaven, discovers that consciousness does not end with earthly life.

The mix that follows represents the sound of Heaven — a place where the angels' musical language is jungle, techno, breakbeats, reggae and hip hop.

I produced the original mix using a Tascam 4-track tape recorder, tons of vinyl, an Emu Emax II sampler, and a VHS tape player, piecing together samples, breaks and sounds to create a psychedelic sonic experience designed to live on long after my own years on Earth.

THE RESURRECTION

Now, decades later, R.A.W. RESURRECTION continues the story.

This time, the listener enters the mind of a person who realizes he has been chosen to return to life by The One.

As he becomes aware that he is being pulled back toward his physical body, the jungle breaks begin to erupt — welcoming his journey from the dead back to Earth.

The resurrection begins.

I've spent over two months searching for movie clips, dialogue and samples to build this four-hour musical journey. Heavy breaks, deep atmospheres, haunting samples and rumbling basslines collide to create a soundtrack for the passage between worlds.

This isn't just a mixtape.

It's a sonic voyage through death, Heaven, resurrection and rebirth — built from the sounds of underground jungle culture.

4 hours of music.
4 cassettes.
One coffin.
One resurrection.

I hope you enjoy the journey.

For the full experience, listen with headphones. ☠️
