Steadfastness. I worked my last shift of residency today! Residency was the hardest 4 years of my life. Emergency medicine in Philadelphia means witnessing suffering that very few can understand. And grieving a parent at the same time? Words can’t describe. I walked into patients’ rooms that mirrored my own experience. Delivered bad news to families during their worst moments while carrying my own story. But it reminded me that serving people in their darkest hours will always be an honor. Grateful to God, my mother, my family, my loved ones who held me through this looooong 13 year journey. One undergrad, one Master’s, one medical degree, and one residency. We did it. 🙏🏾 To my coresidents, attendings, nurses, and staff at Penn, thank you for pouring into me. And to the patients of Philadelphia, thank you for making me the doctor I am today. With laughs, tears, and a few Meek Mill interludes along the way. The journey was long (like this caption). But I now know exactly who I am. Ogechi Nwodim, Attending Emergency Physician. 3.5 weeks in Bali hit different 🌴 !! Emergency medicine by day, volcano climber by night. Three weeks before I left, I wasn’t even sure I was going. Then, there were two weeks of not sleeping trying to prep three weeks worth of 3-hour lectures for physicians. The grind was real. But everyone at the hospitals? So incredible; I barely remembered to take pictures. And the rest? Spas, sunsets, good books, great friends, and one very steep volcano. Ending residency in less than a month and I couldn’t have asked for a better send-off 🤭 by @ogechicn

I’m super proud of this moment! Yesterday I was highlighted as a 76ers hero in the city for working with the Mobile CPR project. I’ve been volunteering with the Mobile CPR project since I was an intern as the Associate medical director. Philadelphia has some of the slowest EMS times in the country especially in the predominantly Black and Brown areas of the city. We’ve been able to train over 7000 Philadelphians CPR over the past 3 years and counting 🤭. So grateful for this honor and opportunity ❤️ by @ogechicn
All I wanted for my birthday was to eat well, travel far, shop a little, and read in peace. Here’s the proof! by @ogechicn
30 is strange and wonderful. Strange, because what once felt like my biggest mistakes now look like blips in time. Wonderful, because even my biggest wins feel like commas, not the headline. I asked God, “Why me?” And the answer came back, “Why not you?” So I step into this decade with three wishes: to tend to the community that continues to water me, to live a life of abundance, and to remain rooted in love and grace.
