Artist spotlight…. @oguvre_solomon #mindcalories by @oguvre_solomon

They were discarded bags.

I saw possibilities.

I have always been fascinated by things people throw away.
Maybe because I see more than what they are today.
A worn-out bag can become a face.
A discarded piece can become a story.
Something forgotten can become something worth looking at again.

This is where my art begins! by @oguvre_solomon

@quadrel_art and @oguvre_solomon take us through two essential principles of building a sustainable art career: why passion can matter more than money and why discipline can be more important than talent.

For the first time in the Undiscovered Series, previous finalists of @nextofkin.ng have been featured as Special Features, and @oguvre_solomon is one of them. In this IG Live conversation, he shares valuable insights into what it takes to build a relevant and enduring career as a visual artist. On the other hand, @quadrel_art a Best Graduating Student of Computer Science at LASU who has transitioned into becoming a fast-rising visual artist—takes us behind the level of discipline, precision and dedication required to achieve the remarkable level of finish evident in his work.

For visual artists asking, “How do I become excellent at my practice?” THIS IG LIVE SESSION IS A MUST-WATCH. Hosted by: @jekami_adetiloye

And tomorrow, we take the conversation from the screen to the gallery.

"In My Mother's Shoes: She's done this before, somehow, before she was old enough to remember. Her mother's shoes, the clip-clop across the floor, lipstick pressed twice into the mirror. A gesture inherited before it was chosen. Private, small, already familiar. The interior life of a girl becoming someone she's always known."- @ezinwanne_umerah

CAriyike is a fictional portrait honoring the strength and resilience of African women. Inspired by legendary figures such as Moremi, the work imagines an archetype of the woman who carries courage, dignity, and endurance. Ariyike is not a portrait of one woman but an embodiment of the strength found across generations."- @barakart_

"In The Look Back, I explore the moment between movement and pause—when a woman turns, not in retreat, but in awareness. Her gaze is direct and measured, asserting control over how she is seen. The exaggerated eyes amplify perception, suggesting emotional intelligence and lived experience. The red garment contrasts boldly against the patterned blue and sap green background, symbolizing individuality within layered environments. The flower in her hair softens the composition, balancing strength with tenderness."- @azibodi_art
