Miss Dior Essence - Dior

Top Notes: Blackberry jam, Elderflower
Heart Notes: Jasmine sambac
Base Notes: Oak wood

Miss Dior was one of the very first perfumes I bought with my own money. And not just any Miss Dior – it was Miss Dior Chérie from 2005. My love for that fragrance back then was huge, it truly felt like MY scent. All the more heartbreaking it was for me when it disappeared from the shelves. I kept buying the following Miss Dior flankers, always hoping that one of them would somehow bring back the feeling of my beloved Miss Dior Chérie.

While I was happy with the 2012 flanker, the reformulations that followed felt like a rollercoaster. For years I didn’t have a Miss Dior in my collection, since I always compared them to my Chérie. But I feel like enough time has passed that I can finally enjoy a new flanker without constantly making that comparison.

I wanted to add something berry-like to my collection for autumn anyway, so the timing couldn’t have been better. Looking at the listed notes, my expectation was pretty straightforward: a sweet blackberry jam scent with a few florals and a woody base. And what I got was: a sweet blackberry jam scent with a few florals and a woody base.

Well, not 100%. The blackberries, while very fruity and sweet, don’t strike me exclusively as jam. There’s something slightly fizzy about them, and if the note had been described as blackberry soda, I would have believed that too. But overall, you really get exactly what’s promised here. No big surprises (neither negative nor positive) should be expected.

Because of its notes, this is obviously not a fragrance I’d wear to a serious business meeting. But I don’t think that was ever the intention behind this creation. To me, it feels youthful and a little naïve, yet it still carries a certain elegance. A scent for days when you don’t want to take yourself – or your fragrance – too seriously. And for that, I really like it.

Have you already tested Miss Dior Essence?

Murmure d’Été - Plume Impression

Top Notes: Cypress, Davana
Heart Notes: Fig, Fig wood, Freesia
Base Notes: Sandalwood, Tonka bean, Cedarwood

When the lovely team at Plume Impression reached out and asked if I would be interested in discovering one of their fragrances, I instantly knew my answer would be yes. I also knew exactly which scent I wanted to try. Murmure d’Été had already been on my summer wishlist, so this connection felt like pure serendipity. ✨

The fragrance opens with a leafy green fig, accompanied by a generous dose of cypress and davana. Despite its green woody character, the opening is not harsh and feels wonderfully balanced.
Over time, the fig becomes creamier and sweeter, but never overly sweet. To me, it smells like luscious fig flesh on moisturized skin. The fig is laid on a soft bed of woods, while a hint of freesia lingers in the background, adding a touch of floral lightness. 🌼

When I wear this fragrance, I imagine a sunlit garden where fig trees are warmed by the sun and the air is filled with the scent of scattered woods and flowers. 🌞🍃
To me, this is the most beautiful fig fragrance I have experienced so far, and I can imagine that many others will enjoy it too. While some fig perfumes can become too green and almost bitter, or drift into overpowering sweetness, this one maintains a perfect balance.

Quentin Bisch has created many fragrances that I connect with deeply, and this one is no exception. Once again, he has captured something that truly resonates with me.
Many thanks again to @plumeimpression ♥️

Have you tried Murmure d’Été yet?

Wood Sage & Sea Salt Body Mist - Jo Malone

Top Notes: Ambrette Seed
Heart Notes: Mineral notes, Sea salt
Base Notes: Sage

I’m not sure if Wood Sage & Sea Salt still needs much of an introduction. The fragrance has been well-known to many for years. If you’re looking for a scent that makes you smell like a fresh and smooth sea breeze, this is exactly what you’re after. 🌊

Unfortunately, the Eau de Cologne has one major downside for me: the longevity. I always feel like as soon as I’ve sprayed it on, it’s already gone again. That’s such a shame because I really love the scent. 🥲

Not long ago, a friend recommended that I try the Body Mist instead. She said it actually lasts longer. A Body Mist with better staying power? I was skeptical at first, but curiosity got the better of me and I ordered it. And what can I say: it’s true.🥳

While the EDC fades almost completely on me after about an hour, the Body Mist lasts several hours. The sillage is still quite intimate, but that’s fine. This is a fragrance I wear just for myself and absolutely no one else.❤️

The scent is the same one you know from the EDC, just creamier. The Body Mist also contains moisturizing ingredients, and you can really tell. It makes the skin feel soft and leaves a noticeable glow. That does mean, however, that it’s better not to spray it on clothes, as it could cause stains.

Another big plus is the price. The Body Mist costs less than half of the EDC.☺️

For everyone who loves the EDC but struggles with its longevity like I do, the Body Mist is a really great alternative that I highly recommend. ❤️ If you layer it with the EDC, you can probably extend the wear time even more. Though honestly, I find the Body Mist alone lasts well enough for me.

Do you like Wood Sage & Sea Salt? How do you get on with its longevity?

La petite robe noir - Guerlain

Top Notes: Sour Cherry, Almond, Red Berries, Bergamot
Heart Notes: Licorice, Rose, Tea, Taif Rose
Base Notes: Vanilla, Anise, Tonka Bean, Patchouli, Iris

This bottle of La Petite Robe Noire is from 2013. It is now almost 13 years old and, thankfully, still in impeccable condition. I do not really wear the fragrance a lot anymore because I feel like I have outgrown it. But it still feels good to have it in my collection and wear it from time to time.

La Petite Robe Noire was one of the first gifts I ever received from my husband. Not the first one, but the second, to be exact. Back then, I received a sample of the fragrance somewhere and fell in love with it instantly. That dark cherry paired with the licorice note was unlike anything I had ever smelled before. To my younger self, the scent just smelled fancy and special. Christmas was approaching and when my husband asked what I wished for, there was no doubt.

So my husband walked into a large perfume store all by himself, with no idea what he was about to experience. He was holding a small note with the name of the perfume written on it. I honestly do not think he had ever set foot in a perfume store before. And I am convinced that the sales assistants there are trained to identify men shopping for a woman within four seconds.

The moment he walked in, two sales assistants descended on him like lions on a gazelle. He showed them the name of the perfume he wanted, but they claimed it was out of stock. Besides, they told him, it was a very unusual fragrance anyway, and they had something much better. After all, he wanted to give an amazing Christmas gift, didn’t he?

Continue under next slide —>

To escape the increasingly persuasive sales assistants, he simply grabbed one of the gift sets they were waving in front of him. And that is how the poor guy ended up buying a Lady Million gift set.

„It smells like heaven,“ the sales assistant told him.

More like hell, if you ask me.

Thankfully, before I could say anything about it, my husband said the perfume smelled absolutely awful from the very first moment and immediately said that it gave him a headache. I felt sorry for him b by @oh.de.parfum

Miss Dior Chérie EDT - Dior

Top Notes: Fruity Notes, Tuberose, Freesia, Jasmine, Lily-of-the-valley, Orange Flower
Heart Notes: Praline, Popcorn, Vanilla
Base Notes: Patchouli

Miss Dior Chérie in its original 2005 formulation was the first fragrance I truly fell in love with. I smelled it in the store, fell in love instantly, and less than two minutes later I was standing at the checkout with a bottle in my hands.

Back then it was my signature scent. I think every piece of clothing I owned eventually smelled permanently of Miss Dior Chérie. 😅 It accompanied me throughout my late teenage years and into early adulthood, becoming part of so many memories along the way.

When it was reformulated, I was far from happy. But when it was eventually discontinued altogether, I was genuinely heartbroken. 💔 For quite some time I had been searching for a well preserved bottle of the original 2005 version, but they usually sell for absolutely outrageous prices. Luckily I recently managed to find this bottle for a very fair price. This is the 2010 Eau de Toilette, and I’m happy to say it’s in wonderful condition.

I actually owned the EDT when it was first released. I remember the opening being a little more orange forward, although that could simply be due to the age of my current bottle. Either way, the EDT feels like a more floral interpretation of the EDP in the opening. It is also a little lighter and less sweet overall. If you will, this is Miss Dior Chérie for spring.🌷

After about half an hour, the familiar base begins to emerge, and this is where I think both versions become very similar. Caramel popcorn goodness with hints of strawberry and a generous dose of patchouli. Even almost twenty years after the original EDP was released, I still think the DNA of Miss Dior Chérie feels unique and beautiful.❤️

It’s such a shame that it was discontinued. I still hope that one day Dior will bring it back in its original formulation. Until then, I’m just happy to have this bottle so I can revisit those memories from time to time.

Is there a fragrance you still miss?

1979 New Wave - Les Bains Guerbois

Top Notes: Spearmint, Peppermint, Aldehydes
Heart Notes: Orris Concrete, Virginia Cedar
Base Notes: Sandalwood, Musk, Amberwood

1979 New Wave is a fragrance that stayed on my mind from the very first time I smelled it. Named after the iconic New Wave era of the late 1970s, it captures the spirit of a time defined by creativity, coolness, and a fresh sense of rebellion. A little nostalgic, yet timeless, it feels like a modern interpretation of that unique atmosphere. It is easy to wear all year round, although I probably appreciate it the most during summer. ☀️

It opens with a burst of spearmint 🌿 that feels almost ice cold and sparkling thanks to the perfectly balanced aldehydes. It is like having your own personal a/c ❄️ on your skin on a 30°C summer day. As it develops, a powdery iris gradually emerges, rounded out by creamy sandalwood.

I have read that for some people the mint fades away during the drydown. That is not the case on my skin. I can still detect the mint, although in a softer form, all the way to the end. Overall, I am so happy to have this fragrance in my collection because the way this cool mint accord has been created is truly quite unique. 💙

On another note, the shopping experience with Les Bains Guerbois was fantastic as well. Their customer service went far beyond what I expected. The quality of the fragrance itself is one thing, but the way you are treated as a customer is, at least for me, a big part of the overall buying experience. They absolutely nailed it, and I really wanted to mention it.

What is your favorite fragrance from Les Bains Guerbois? 😊

Memory of the Sun - Mizensir

Top Notes: Ambrox, Bergamot
Heart Notes: Tuberose, Paradisone, Raspberry
Base Notes: Amber, Sandalwood, Benzoin, Vanilla, Musk, Peru balsam

I’ve always had a soft spot for Mizensir. Luxury, for example, is one of my most worn fragrances at the moment. So when the house released a new fragrance, I simply couldn’t resist trying it. And out of all the new releases I’ve tested this year, this one has become my favorite by far. It immediately found its way into my heart and onto my fragrance shelf.

The opening is fresh and bright. In fact, it almost comes across as slightly soapy to me. Not in the sense of a bar of soap, but rather like the feeling of stepping out of the shower after using an expensive soap and finishing with a luxurious body lotion. As the fragrance develops, that initial freshness softens and gives way to a creamier texture.

That airy quality is reflected in the floral notes as well. Neither tuberose nor jasmine feel overpowering or demanding. Instead, they remind me of sun warmed blossoms whose scent is gently carried to your nose by the breeze. The raspberry is beautifully done here as well. It appears as a delicate nuance within the sillage, almost like little clouds of raspberry in the air.

Throughout the entire composition, there’s a distinct impression of sunshine. A beautiful solar accord seems to bathe every note in warm light. A beautiful solar note drapes itself over everything, and as the scent becomes creamier, it even starts to remind me slightly of sunscreen. Yet it never actually smells like a typical SPF product.

Honestly, this is one the perfumes that immediately put a smile on your face when you smell them. The individual notes are perfectly balanced, nothing feels excessive and nothing feels missing. You can truly sense how much attention to detail Alberto Morillas put into creating this fragrance.

If you enjoy fragrances that feel elegant, slightly clean and still perfectly summery and happy, I highly recommend giving Memory of the Sun a try. You might just fall in love with it as much as I have.

Luna - Penhaligon’s

Top Notes: Lemon, Bitter orange, Bergamot
Heart Notes: Rose, Juniper berry, Jasmine
Base Notes: Fir balsam, Musk, Ambergris

After one of my favorite fragrances from my last post already featured a juniper note, I still have another favorite scent and another juniper berry in store. Juniper berry really seems to be my note somehow ☺️

Luna is a true heart fragrance to me, a perfume that has been in my collection for a long time and one that I’m almost certain I will always own. There are fragrances I enjoy for a while, but eventually grow tired of and stop wearing for some time. Luna is different. I could never get tired of this scent.

Luna opens with a blend of soft citrus and a beautiful gin accord. Gradually, a delicate pink rose joins in, but it never overpowers the fragrance and instead blends in effortlessly. In the base, a gentle fir note appears and perfectly rounds out the composition. The scent feels slightly cool, yet still friendly and uplifting.

To me, Luna is one of those fragrances that hovers around you like an aura. It really can evoke the image of a moonlit forest clearing where tiny fairies are dancing. Longevity and sillage are naturally not beast mode because of the fragrance’s character, but with a scent this beautiful, reapplying it is something you’ll gladly want to do anyway.

Have you tried Luna yet? ❤️

Orphéon - Diptyque

Notes: Magnolia, Juniper berry, Damask Rose, Musk, Cedarwood, Ambroxan, Jasmine, Benzoin, Ylang-ylang, Honeycomb, Mastic, Patchouli, Tonka Bean, Vetiver

What is one perfume in your collection that you would never give up? A scent that truly feels like “you”?

For me, it is Orphéon. If I were to lose all my fragrances, Orphéon would probably be the first one I would repurchase. And yet, it was not love at first sight. When I first got my sample, I sprayed it, smelled it, thought “okay,” and put it back in the cupboard. It was only much later that I took it out again, tested it once more, and wondered why on earth I had not recognized the gem it truly is.

What fascinates me is how differently the fragrance can smell on different people. On me, I mostly pick up a clean magnolia and rose, combined with a good splash of gin and a cedarwood note. Sometimes the scent feels powdery, sometimes more creamy. At times it smells very clean, and the next moment almost warm. On my husband, however, the cedarwood clearly dominates, and overall it comes across much cooler on him. Orphéon is definitely one of those fragrances where skin chemistry makes a big difference.

For me, it is a scent that always works. It is not too loud for daily wear, yet still chic enough for going out. Since adding the bottle to my collection, I have worn it so often that I will need a new one soon. So for me, it was absolutely worth the money.

L’Arbre de la Connaissance - Jovoy

Top Notes: Green notes, Citrus fruits
Heart Notes: Fig
Base Notes: Fig tree, Patchouli, Sandalwood

Finally, we’re getting some spring weather in my region, and as soon as the first rays of sunshine start warming both nature and the mood, it’s time to pull my fig fragrances out of the cabinet again. L’Arbre de la Connaissance is quite an interesting interpretation of fig, because it caters both to fans of truly green scents and to those who enjoy a fruity, creamy fig.

The fragrance opens with a burst of lemon. Not a sun-ripened one, but rather the kind that’s still slightly green at the tips. Alongside the lemon, you get the full presence of a fig tree. You can smell the subtle woodiness of the branches and trunk, the green leaves, and the not-quite-ripe figs hanging from them. At times, it almost feels like sitting beneath a real fig tree. At this stage, the scent is beautifully green, yet it has an airy quality that keeps the bitterness of the green notes from becoming overwhelming.

Gradually, the fragrance becomes more approachable. The greenness fades and gives way to a softly fruity fig that grows creamier over time. I do notice the patchouli, but it doesn’t dominate the composition.

While most fig fragrances tend to be fairly linear, L’Arbre de la Connaissance offers a development that I personally find quite intriguing, which makes it especially interesting to me. Longevity and sillage could perhaps be a bit stronger, as I do need to reapply after a few hours. Compared to other “summery” fig scents, though, the performance is still on the higher side.

How do you prefer your fig in fragrances? Sweet, creamy, or more green and woody?

Suave Petals - The Merchant of Venice

Top Notes: Nectarine blossom, Bergamot, Pineapple, Apple
Heart Notes: White Rose, Orange blossom, Iris, Tuberose
Base Notes: Patchouli, Musk, Sandalwood, Vanilla

Suave Petals has been with me for almost a year now, and I’m still surprised at how much I’ve fallen for it. Normally, fragrances with patchouli aren’t my first choice. And yet, it completely won me over and will be worn a lot again this spring.

The scent shows clear similarities to the “For Her” EDP by Narciso Rodriguez, which would usually be a red flag for me. I generally don’t get along with NR fragrances at all. But somehow, what doesn’t work for me in those, The Merchant of Venice gets absolutely right here. Because despite the similarities, Suave Petals is just so much better. Softer, smoother, and far better balanced.

From the top notes, I mainly pick up pineapple, but a beautiful ripe, sun-kissed pineapple. A whole bouquet of white flowers joins in, slightly sweet and slightly powdery, dusted with vanilla powder. Thanks to the bitterness of the patchouli, it never becomes overly sweet and stays nicely grounded.

By the way, the patchouli note is present from start to finish. What makes it tolerable, even almost interesting for me here, is that it doesn’t dominate the entire fragrance. Instead, it subtly supports the scent in the background. This keeps it from drifting into a dark direction and allows it to remain on the bright, spring-like side.

Which fragrance has won you over, even though you normally wouldn’t have reached for it?

Athénaïs - Parfums de Marly

Top Notes: Bergamot, Neroli, Yuzu
Heart Notes: Orange blossom, Jasmine
Base Notes: Ambrox, Tonka Bean, Vanilla

Hello friends, long time no see! I’ve been really busy lately, but I still managed to play around with some new fragrances here and there. This is one of them, and I was actually quite curious about it.

The opinions I had read about this scent so far were pretty mixed. Some say it smells like Prada Paradoxe, others compare it to Apom, and some even to LDBS. After smelling it myself, I can honestly understand all of those takes.

Athénaïs is a blend dominated by orange blossom and neroli. There’s a touch of citrus woven in, but completely without any cleaning product vibes, it’s really very refined. I find the orange blossom here beautifully done, the “marshmallow vibes” are kept in check, and it doesn’t come across waxy to me either. Overall, this is a very well-made fragrance and super easy to wear for everyday use. The longevity is decent, not the most long-lasting scent, but still quite noticeable after a few hours.

Sure, this combination of notes isn’t anything new, and you’ve definitely smelled something similar before. To me, it’s closest to Paradoxe, although Athénaïs does smell noticeably more high-end. Then again, at that price point, it should, right? The price is actually what would stop me from recommending it, unless you find it at a discounted price somewhere. There are quite a few fragrances on the market with a similar scent profile for significantly less money. On top of that, for a 2026 release, I would have hoped that the “pink tax” wouldn’t still be a thing. The brand still applies a pretty noticeable price markup on fragrances marketed towards women, which I find quite disappointing.

It’s a beautiful scent, yes, but as long as the brand doesn’t adjust its pricing, it won’t be a rebuy for me.

What do you think? Should a fragrance in this price range offer something new and exciting?
