“Be careful who you wish for…”
Obsession (2026)
Runtime: 109 minutes

This movie is simply incredible and is the perfect mix of horror, comedy, and tragedy. Both Inde Navarrette and Michael Johnston provide performances out of this world for the roles they play and the entire cast’s chemistry is off the charts. Everyone here works so well together to create this masterpiece of male manipulation, and they do a really great job in getting that message clear of our main character, Baron, not being a good guy. Of course people will still misinterpret it, but incels will be incels.

Inde Navarrette’s Nikki, is possibly one of the most tragic characters in modern horror. She is put through the absolute ringer in this movie, pretty much losing all control of herself and who she is from the start, and yet still she tries to fight this wish put on her from the inside, and all though it’s to no avail, it shows the characters strength even if the real Nikki herself is absent for most of the film.

This film is everything it set out to be, and turned a very simple premise into such a compelling piece of art that has such a relevant message in today’s day and age that will hopefully and probably be studied for years to come.

Synopsis:
After breaking the mysterious “One Wish Willow” to win his crush’s heart, a hopeless romantic finds himself getting exactly what he asked for—but soon discovers that some desires come at a dark, sinister price.

An incredibly progressive movie for it’s time, and an absolutely wonderfully queer celebration of classic horror. With an outstanding cast, especially spearheaded by Tim Curry, this movie shines best as the weird, wacky, cheesy love letter to all things sexy and sapphic that it is. I was able to actually see a local stage play of this movie, and with the crowd interactions and performances it was probably the most fun I’ve ever had in a theatre. The ability for this movie to stand the test of time over fifty years later is a true testament to how incredible and timeless this movie is.

Synopsis:
After getting a flat tire in the middle of nowhere, newly engaged couple Brad and Janet encounter the eerie mansion of the flamboyant, seductive Dr. Frank-N-Furter and a variety of eccentric characters. Through elaborate dance and rock music, the mad scientist unveils his latest creation: a perfect, muscular man.

Candyman (1992)
Runtime: 101 minutes

This is absolute masterclass of a film led by the wonderful late Tony Todd and Virginia Madsen. The dynamic between these two is so beautiful and grossly magnetizing, and Helen's character is so well done as the detective trying to solve the urban legend of Candyman. I think this movie is beautiful, and a one of the few horror movies I'd truly call a real artistic masterpiece.

Synopsis:
The Candyman, a murderous soul with a hook for a hand, is accidentally summoned to reality by a skeptic grad student researching the monster’s myth.

“Evil takes many forms.”
The Witch / The VVitch: A New-England Folktale (2015)
Runtime: 92 minutes

This movie is a beautiful masterpiece of immersion. Every actor gives it their all to make the script come from page to the screen, and they each deliver all the dialogue between each other in a way that feels true to the time period but natural, as if they actually lived it. Even the child actors, which I usually find annoying, deliver beautiful performances across the board. I said it already but I can't stress enough just how immersed this move can make you feel. You truly feel all the unease, nerves, paranoia, and skepticism the main cast feels in their performance and it creates for a beautiful viewing experience.

Synopsis:
In 1630s New England, a banished Puritan family builds a farm at the edge of a remote forest, only for grief, religious paranoia, and supernatural terror to slowly tear them apart after their infant son mysteriously vanishes.

“Pay to get in. Pray to get out!”
The Funhouse (1981)
Runtime: 96 minutes

This film is simply not that good. A true movie of it's time, it is just about as much of a cheesy 80s horror flick as you can assume. From the dialogue to the kills to the acting, it is all very subpar and almost groan inducing. The only saving grace I could possibly give it, is that the opening credits as well as the set design is absolutely beautiful. Even for it's time the quality is impressive, and probably the only thing I'd say still holds up in this movie. If all else fails in this film, you do still feel at the very least immersed in the carnival setting.

Synopsis:
Rebellious teen Amy defies her parents by going to a trashy traveling carnival with her boyfriend and friends. After deciding to spend the night inside the Funhouse ride, the group witnesses something horrifying and realizes they are locked inside with dangerous carnival workers.
