POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

A year ago, I bet on an idea...Not long after, I ruptured my ACL and started a second season choreographing from a chair. So many times I tried to talk myself out of dreaming big and letting the weight of another major injury tear this down.

But that's just not me. Through blind faith, an incredible support system, and friends who became colleagues, the AfterClass Movement has now reached nearly 350 dancers across 6 partner programs. We've raised donations and completed community impact projects with La Viña Community Support, Children's Hospital of MN, and the United Way. We've connected with amazing dancers from across Minnesota, to Chicago, Ohio, Arkansas, and Florida, and we've seen our dancers grow, not just in skill, but in confidence, character, and community. And we're just getting started.

@averie75 and @bboyabide - thank you for saying yes early and pouring your talent into these kids. And to the studios, directors and coaches who took a chance on us, thank you for trusting the vision and choosing community over competition.

It is such a privilege to support these kids in their dance journeys and beyond. And it's for them that I'll keep reaching, keep learning, and keep dancing. Endlessly grateful and excited for what's next. 💚🧡

The best way to understand what a competition program is all about is to see it in action; the work, the details, the performances, and the people behind it❤️🖤

Competition Hip Hop registration is NOW OPEN. We’re gearing up BIG TIME for season 11, just wait to see what we’re bringing this year🔥

Our most successful Monsters yet 🖤

Lil Boo Thang — 1st in category and highest scoring 12 & under solo/duet/trio with a near-perfect score.
Elin’s solo Pedi also placed 7th overall in the 12 & under solo/duet/trio division.
Hi Hater — 3rd in category.
Flex Crew — 1st overall junior small group, 2nd highest scoring out of ALL 12 & under group routines, and earned a closing ceremony re-performance with the Craftsmanship Judge’s Choice Award.
Killa Essence - 8th overall for 13+ groups
Kid Hop — 1st overall 9–12 large group and 5th overall across all 12 & under group routines.
Giddy Up — 1st in category for productions and highest scoring 12 & under group routine of the weekend, earning a closing ceremony re-performance.

Beyond competition results, Jameson, Ellie C, Avery AN, Bodyn, and Taylin each received scholarships toward future Monsters events. I was also honored to receive Teacher of the Weekend with a scholarship to the Dance Educators Collective in Nashville this summer. Thank you to my dancers and families for nominating me, and to Monsters for the recognition.

These AfterClass dancers took 10+ hours of class this weekend, learned from some of the best in the industry, and connected with dancers from all over. They trained hard, showed up for each other, and represented AfterClass and Millennium with everything they had.

I’m so proud of this group. So, so proud. 🤍 by @ohg.kp

Grateful to @bboyabide for spending the evening with our @studio4talent dancers and sharing the art of breaking!

At The AfterClass Mvmt, our mission is to increase access to authentic hip hop and street style training for dancers across Minnesota. We bring artists into rooms, create real exposure, and give dancers experiences that shift how they see the culture and themselves within it.

Appreciate you for being a part of the movement, Abide.

Our books are open for summer workshops, college audition prep, private intensives, and 2026–2027 studio and high school dance team partnerships. If you’re ready to deepen your dancers’ foundation and expand what’s possible in your program, let’s connect.

AfterClass Intensive

Grateful to every dancer who came to train and be part of this growing community — and to Melvina and Averie for helping bring this first experience to life.

The energy in the room was real. Focus, intention, support for one another — and seeing so many dancers repping our AfterClass gear alongside that reflects a commitment to, and belief in the community we’re building together.

Character. Community. Culture.

This is the movement. by @ohg.kp
