The grief of losing someone to addiction is such a complicated thing. It’s even more complex when you are slowly forced to watch the decline of the person you love. Step by step, day by day you lose them further. Then the bad years influence your relationship and you begin to forget what the relationship was like before. Before birthdays and holidays felt like a chore, they were the happiest times of year. Before each phone call and text felt heavy and forced, you’d have given anything to spend time with that person. I wish four years ago I was willing and able to let things go. I wish I could go back and stop myself from putting up impenetrable boundaries and just enjoy the moments I had left. The truth is I would feel every heartbreaking low, over and over, if I meant I got just five more minutes with my brother. by @ohhhkyle

This is hands downs one of my favorite projects I’ve ever been a part of! Over the past few years, I’ve so often missed a part of me. The part that was carefree. The part that loved freely. The part that didn’t run at the first sign of trouble. Truthfully we never quite love like that first one and there’s a certain beauty in the naivety of it all. But if I’ve learned one thing over these past couple weeks, life is short. So take those risks, lower your guard, and live your life unafraid.
