The Ohio Working Families Party is proud to endorse a diverse group of leaders committed to fighting for a future where working class Ohioans can thrive!

These 19 leaders are joined by our first round of endorsed candidates that will be on the November ballot: Brian Poindexter (OH-7), Davida Russell (HD-18), and Charity Martin King (OH-2).

From expanding access to healthcare, making housing more affordable, banning data centers, funding public education, and ensuring our communities and families are safe, these candidates care deeply about the issues impacting our daily lives — and they’re ready to get to work.

Columbus voters are fed up with a so-called “hybrid” district system where districts operate in name only: council members must each live in one of the 9 districts, but must still be elected at-large. Columbus is one of the largest cities in the United States without an actual district-based City Council representation. Citywide “at-large” elections dilute neighborhood representation and make it difficult for many communities to elect candidates who truly understand and advocate for their local concerns.

Columbus voters are frustrated, and it shows in declining voter turnout. Councilmembers are regularly elected and reelected without competition because communities with fewer financial resources struggle to compete and win. Voters deserve better.

That’s why Our City, Our Say is working to collect 25,000 signatures to put a simple fix on the ballot – true district elections for City Council by the people who live in that district. And we need your help to do it!

Building working class power means doing the things that turn candidates into electeds. In Ohio, that means organizing every room, calling and texting voters, getting the word out on socials, and countless confirmation calls…IYKYK 😇

Since endorsements were made 6 weeks ago, the Ohio Working Families Party organized 50+ volunteer shifts, knocked over 700 doors, and sent almost 400,000 texts - 397,951 to be specific - in support of our 5 endorsed candidates for the primary. 3 of those 5 will be on the ballot in November - so we're just getting started.

We are always proud to stand with fighters who are done waiting for working people to get their fair share. And today, we are saying thank you to two candidates — Bryan Hambley and Adrian Vitus. While they won’t be on the ballot this year, so many of us appreciate their time, dedication, and money invested in making a better world for working families.

Bryan envisions a democracy that works for the people of Ohio - not just the wealthy and well-connected. His message of fair maps, fair elections, and not accepting corporate PAC money inspired voters across Ohio. Thank you, Bryan, for your leadership and campaign to make a better Ohio for the working class.

Adrian centered his campaign on building healthcare, childcare, and other systems to benefit working people, rather than the wallets of corporations. Thank you, Adrian, for your advocacy and for fighting for working people.
