What a treat we just put on our Soundcloud for you: 2 never released Zenopede tracks recorded at the legendary studio of Mick Harris, The Box, in 2001
from Dave's notes:
These two were made with MJH himself in The Box in Birmingham one Saturday summer 2001 or so. I went to get buy some equipment and Mick graciously said bring along your hardware and we'll do a couple of tracks. He showed me the secrets of the HedNod and we did these two in the space of about 2 hours.

90s Dark Hop Origins of Ohm Resistance

In the late 1990s, the concept of Ohm Resistance was born from Submerged working with Mick Harris, all while putting together projects with the film composer and sound editor Mark Filip. In film, he is credited as Mark D. Filip - in music, we know him as M. Gregor Filip from Gator Bait Ten and The Blood of Heroes. One of those projects was the very first mix of a compilation - RISE|CONVERGE
For the next 2 weeks only, we will allow streaming and download of this album, to give our listeners a base of where we came from - DARK HOP IS ON - as we used to say.

There were a good number of slow, dark downtempo projects, more or less adjacent to or children of Scorn during this period. We had London’s O C O S I (Simon J. Smerdon from Mothboy and Paul Molyneaux), who were instrumental in hosting Submerged in London and introducing him to the underworld of electronic music, Switzerland’s NOS (a very smooth and sleek style project), and alongside these beat masters lived also the isolationist inspired ambient artists like Erem, Kanal (there’s Mark Filip again!) and Andy Q. Hayleck. RISE|CONVERGE was a purposeful teaming of all of this movement, and the harshest, most violent of the slow beats belonged to Wales’s Dave Ezra - better known as Zenopede.
