Don’t hire a wedding coordinator.Answer every vendor question yourself.Keep your phone on you all day so vendors, family members, and the wedding party can reach you whenever they need something.Handle timeline changes.Track down missing people.Solve last-minute problems.Explain the same information you’ve already provided three different times.Make sure vendors arrive, set up, and stay on schedule.Put out fires behind the scenes.Stress about every detail.After all, you’ve only spent thousands of dollars on your wedding. Why would you want to spend the day fully present with your spouse, family, and friends when you could spend it managing the event instead?A wedding coordinator isn’t there because couples can’t plan their wedding. One of the most common things I hear is:“We don’t need a Day-Of Coordinator… the venue handles that.”And honestly? Sometimes the venue handles a lot. That’s not the issue.The misunderstanding is thinking a Day-Of Coordinator is only there to do the things no one else will do.That’s not what you’re paying for.You’re paying for someone to be there the entire day whose only focus is making sure everything keeps moving when questions come up, timelines shift, vendors need direction, family members need answers, and unexpected situations happen.The venue is focused on the venue.The caterer is focused on the food.The photographer is focused on the photos.The DJ is focused on the music.A Day-Of Coordinator is focused on the overall experience and making sure YOU aren’t the one solving problems on your wedding day.The best wedding days aren’t the ones where nothing goes wrong. POV: Your coordinator refuses to fluff your train in the middle of the aisle And no, it’s not because I forgot.If there’s an opportunity to fluff your train and veil before you reach the top of the aisle, I’m almost always going to take it.Why?I don’t want to be in your photographer’s or videographer’s shots. You’ve invested in a media team to capture your ceremony, and the focus should be on you—not me sprinting in and out of frame.I want you fully present in the moment. The second you reach the top of that aisle should be about locking eyes with your partner, not waiting for me to finish arranging fabric behind you.I want the ceremony to flow naturally. Every interruption, even a quick one, can pull everyone out of the moment. A little preparation beforehand helps everything feel seamless.Now, are there situations where there’s no other option? Absolutely. Sometimes the aisle, ceremony setup, wind, terrain, or the dress itself makes an aisle fluff unavoidable. When that happens, I’ll do what needs to be done.But if I can handle it before you take those final steps, I will every single time.Because the goal isn’t for guests to remember your coordinator.
