Our third album, Dorothy, is out now. A deep well of community and time went into making this album, so I give you a road to love:

Recorded at Ruby Machine, Trash Treasury and Heavy Meadow from February 2022 - November 2023

mixed by Vin Christopher
mastered by Fred Thomas
written, performed, produced by yours truly and everyone below

to my righteous collaborators Vin Christopher, Liam Hindahl, and Stevie Smith. - you create the details and structure that tie it all together, from drums to bass to keys to harmony - we really did that & I love you SO much. Liam, from the moment I saw you I knew you would be in my life forever, the best drummer a gal could have. Stevie, I will always remember the drives you make for what you believe in, bringing tonal confidence in everything you do.

to our glue and engineer, Vin- thank you for taking the time, care & painstaking hours to sit with this for over two years. You are one of the hardest working people I know & bass parts are always *chefs kiss*

to River Nason - thank you for producing this alongside us. Riv also played guitar on Dog, Toilet Water, Man Compares Woman + percussion on It Takes Time & drums on Currents. An honorary rose, always.

to Antiquated Future who responded to a DM in April of this year. Your values are iconic and you have made the last 5 months feel easy.

to Laith Scherer - I’m so grateful you’re with us & thx for guitar on the call and vox on t water

Thank you Cameron Spies for keys & production on Back 2 U, Jonathan Thompson for piano & vox on Tear Gas and Toilet Water. Kiana Keane with fiddle and vocals, Nico Leibman and Graham Ulicny for guitar on Man Compares Woman. Tanner Dunn for bass on Toilet Water. To Ben Kamen, Grace Conklin, Oona & Ozzie Kamen-Torres, Chibi, Tuna, Jake & Max for being our dog choir. Anna Jeter for vocals on Tear Gas. To Merle Law for vocals on Toilet Water.

to Jake Tobin for painting the cover quilt of roses & Mara Appel Des Lauriers for tying the album art together with back cover & album design - thank you

& finally, to my Mama Dot, who paved the road. This one is for you.

The Olympia, WA based four-piece Oh, Rose has solidified their place in the PNW music scene through powerful, upbeat performances showcasing the emotive and unfiltered voice of front woman Olivia Rose. Their catalog is both intimate and explosive; since forming in 2014, the band has released two albums and an EP, amassing a catalog that ranges from soft, synth-tinted love songs to full-on, painfully screamed ballads.

fun fact: the first ever show I played in Olympia was at Spencer’s house, Chez Puget, back in 2012. And now, 14 years later, I’m back in Spencer’s living room and it’s my first show postpartum and also my baby’s first oly house show and this is the kind of coincidence that makes the world go round.

🫂

Thank you @wa.raisl for capturing this moment. Thank you to my friends for singing along and sticking around. Life is a circle.

it’s April 1rst and I’d be lying if I said I still didn’t have a lot of problems! So here’s a video of me singing em to my baby (who doesn’t really understand but smiles nonetheless).

I’ll be playing a handful of songs solo in Olympia this Saturday, April 4th, alongside my dear friends Hemlock and Sawtooth. It’s a house show so shoot me a message for the address. I’m on just before bedtime, 6pm sharp. See ya there!

there will be sleepless nights, and two bottom teeth, and not remembering the name of the person you just met, and rain, so much rain, and also sun and smiles and balance and miscommunication and chocolate toast for dinner and feeling worn down like a smooth, familiar stone

and through it all there will be song. there will always be song.

A day of remembering my mother, Lee, nine years gone.

Our relationship is complicated; against the current of her life I found ways to mother myself and those around me, and in her passing I have found shoreline and ways to mother her memory. If you listen to my music you’ll hear it, but also Carol King’s Tapestry front to back does a good job of capturing her essence.

One of the hardest parts about becoming a parent is understanding that you are raising your child to inhabit a future without you. And, if you are lucky, the time you have is enough to impart the essence of who you are.

My mother was an ocean, vast and deep, not without fear, a place where all earths minerals deposit and create buoyancy with a taste similar to tears.

A place to remember where I came from, where we all do. by @ohroseh

started the year cresting the dune with my baby, surrounded by friends and warm lighting and gratitude. Motherhood is an epic I’m finding hard to put words to but I steal moments to write it down when I’m up before the clouds light. What am I trying to say? I feel more certain than ever before about who I am (a reminder to remain flexible). While the songs I’m currently singing are mostly about toes and binkys and the breakdown of the phonetic alphabet, there are also notes of oceanic growth. Faster than a sprouted dill, life pulling like a kite string. My laugh feels deeper. I will blink and it will be spring.

Happy new year, thank you for sticking around.
