Blood Bonds.
Book III. North Draven.

I think the first words spoken to Oli were something along the lines of, if you don’t bond, I’m taking it and be done with you.
Oh yes, he really said that and I was hooked, lol. The audacity.

DON’T let that turn you away from North. He is the glue that keeps everyone together. The leader, and I mean true leader of the group. However much he is put together socially, his power is the opposite. It was pretty awesome to watch him tame himself by way of Oli.

Again, the book is semi repetitive, I agree but I ate it up. I was hooked because I really liked Oli and the bonded. I loved learning about their powers. I loved reading about their powers, especially the death dealers. North and his brother, Nox are shadow daddies and their power is AWESOME. The cover is showing you a hint.

I really fought over who I liked best but it’s between, North, Gryphon and Nox.

Savage Bonds.

I absolutely ate this book up, however the only thing coming back to me was the bonding scene, cause that was 👀 🔥 lol surprising when it happened.

I will say, these books tend to blur a little together and the only thing I can remember is who is on the cover and the WHY. So, I can’t really give too much away.

When Oli gets jealous, it was very enjoyable. I like that the author teases us with that.

If you enjoy reading strong FMCs, Oli is definitely one of them for what she has been through.

Sometimes it has repeating themes but it does keep expanding the back stories as the plot progresses.

Broken Bonds.

I am jealous of those who get to read this series for the first time. And why didn’t I read this sooner!

I will say, I am not a big fan of reverse harem, but if it’s done right, I’m a fan. I a huge fan of Ruthless Boys of Zodiac academy. I would say Ruthless Boys is slightly better than Zodiac Academy but only slightly and probably because there isn’t much of Lionel and his bullsheesh in those books.

But Oleander reminds me a lot of Elise and I love her!

More affectionately known as Olli, ran away from her bonded and has been hated and pursued since. She’s eventually found and has to deal with being dragged back to her bonded and the hatred from them and the community. No one runs from their bonded.

She gets bullied.

But, what everyone and especially her bonded doesn’t know is that she did it to protect them. She keeps that a secret until she can no longer hide why she ran and who exactly she is.

I devoured this series pretty quickly.

Birds of a Feather.

I didn’t listen. I didn’t palate cleanse. I jumped right in and I was fine. I wasn’t particularly fine after Severed Heart and was the reason I had to see it through. I had to make sure Tyler was okay. And ooof, he wasn’t. Not really.

This book picks up nearly a half a decade later and the Tyler we get to witness for the first half of the book is not the same Tyler. He is in his villain era and deprived.

Deprived of normal life. Human connection. His emotions.
Especially his emotions, until Larissa. This story was probably the most unique mafia twist to it and I liked it!

She was obsessed with him. Stalked him. He was her hero who helped her through her darkness moments in life. They were dark. Being the daughter of the Don, she wasn’t immune to his protection. In fact, she suffered greatly at her father’s hands.

She goes to Tyler for help to bring her father down and he betrays her. A woman who has over come the let down of everyone in her family. Mom, dad, brother and then her hero. To see her stay strong when she should have been broken was fabulous.

He grovels, heavily! I started to lose a little interest during this part because it just went on a little too far for me, but I’m happy the way this went.

Especially that cliffhanger because 😲

Severed Heart.

Tyler and Delphine.

I don’t know if I even have the right words to write my review. I don’t feel that I can accurately relay how much I loved this book and put those feelings into words. Everything is all jumbled for me. This story will pull you back and forth with emotions. It’s better felt than described.

This is my second favorite book in the series and Tyler is my second favorite MMC in this series, right after Tobias.

I don’t always read books for the stories or plot, it’s the character development that really keeps me capitative. It’s the main reason I love Dark Romance, because of the character development not what happens to them. I think most people over look this.

Delphine was broken from the very first chapter. It sets the tone for her character throughout the book until Tyler comes along. They both come into each others lives when needed the most. Not romantically but two lost souls who needed someone to see them.

What I’ve realized about this series, is that we follow the characters first and last love. Their breaking and perseverance points. Their lowest and greatest point of their lives. And that we see both Tyler and Delphine go through. This story doesn’t have a happy ending. It’s tragic but a reminder of how fleeting life is, but reading this story was worth it. It definitely altered my brain chemistry a little. And now that I’ve finished the series, I feel a little lost at what to read next and I hate that feeling. But I definitely need a softer story. Maybe jump back into fantasy.

Mafia series rivals!

It’s honestly so hard to choose between Rina Kent and Cora Reilly. The first generation of Rina Kent is just superior. There is something so special and unique about that group and not really mafia but very close to it.

Cora Reilly is top tier mafia. And say what you about Luca but he is what made me fall in love with Cora’s writing, EVEN with that one scene. That is one of my tropes I can’t help but love. It was executed so well. The betrayal 🤌🏻

However, the Dark Verse series by RuNyx is my most beloved and favorite.

One Last Rainy Day.

Dom, oh Dom.

How I wish this character would have found peace sooner.
This book sadly didn’t quite hit as the others, and I think it had a little to do with the timeline writing. I felt a little confused trying figure out the timeline and sequence from the other POVs I previously read.

BUT I still enjoyed the book and think it was incredibly creative.

Dom struggled with himself, with the past and I ended up not feeling as badly for him as I did without his POV … until the end. I think that portion of the book was the most beautifully written and I got closure.

Kate Stewart really knows how to get under my armor, that is for sure!

The Finish Line.

Tobias is hilarious and my favorite character. Personally, I found him to be a very relatable character. The book starts out with a young Tobias and his pov mostly. That first scene really attached me to him. I can see why it was always Tobias.

I absolutely loved the banter between Cecelia and Tobias.

Tobias and his baking scene had me ROLLING. And I loved that Cecelia gave him a lot of firsts, including Halloweenie 🥹.

It’s hard to decide what my favorite book is so far. It’s between Exodus (the hurt!) or The Finish Line. Though, I’m a little over halfway through Tyler’s book and shit, that’s giving both those books a run for its money! He is my second favorite character.

Exodus.
Possible spoilers.

The book that broke me MULTIPLE times. It wasn’t just because of his death, it was everything that was revealed afterwards as well.

The story felt inspired by New Moon, and I AM HERE FOR IT. It is one of my comfort movies I like to watch and has in fact inspired my own story creations and a pivotal moment in my life, not exactly but similar in a way. Even at my worst, I still reflect as one of my best because if it weren’t for those moments in life, I wouldn’t be the person l am today. Though far from where I would like, and not entirely sure of what that looks like but it’s a journey that I’m excited to discover.

This book is in two parts and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I read the first three books in a day each. I couldn’t put it down. Though stalled on One Last Rainy Day, I’m hoping to have the series complete by the end of the month. I don’t really want to read anything else but I really don’t want it to end and I think one I finish OLRD, I’ll move away from the main characters and setting. The OLRD does jump around a lot, so most of the time I’m trying to figure out where this was in the first two books.

There were plot lines and character developments I never saw coming. It was done very well in my opinion. I don’t typically go for a genre like this but I was pleasantly surprised. It’s been a great palate cleanser to the other genres I love. Because of Exodus, I would have to say this is a tie of my top read for the year so far.
