This is us, Oishibro.

Up till a few weeks ago, Oishibro was just an idea we decided to take a chance on.

Neither of us came from a hospitality background, and we’d never run a food truck before. We simply had a vision, a lot of determination, and plenty of late nights figuring things out as we went.

From designing our food truck, sourcing the right equipment, and going through countless rounds of trial and error, every step has led us to one of the best parts of this journey - meeting all of you.

Seeing your reactions when you try our senbei for the first time, hearing your kind words, and watching so many of you come back for another has made every bit of hard work worth it.

Thank you to everyone who has stopped by, shared a post, told a friend, or simply cheered us on. Your support means more than you know.

This is only the beginning, and we’re so excited to continue this journey with all of you.

Sorry for the silence, Senbei lovers! 🙏 Life’s been a bit wild lately balancing real life behind the scenes, but we’re taking a quick breather. We are officially on holiday with our little one and will be back in action and ready to roll by mid-October.

Senbei lovers! This coming week we will be skipping the night market unfortunately due to weather, but we are locked in for the weekend at the following locations to serve you fresh hot pressed senbei.

@oishibronz has launched the first pressed 🇯🇵Senbei in NZ!
They've perfected the rice cracker recipe to get the crisp just right - pressed thin and flat until it's almost glass-like.
We got the prawn and octopus, and seriously, I was admiring it for a solid minute before I could bring myself to break into this piece of art. Then one bite in and I was straight back for more, no self-control left after that.
Told everyone near me where to find it 😂

ASMR incoming… crunch test of our Senbei!

A lot of people ask about the texture of our Senbei, in which we say.. CRUNCHY. You got to hear this.

Depending on the seafood you get a range of umami taste and texture. Octopus is more mild, prawn is more umami with a good bite, soft shell crab gives an even more complex taste of the sea.

Words can’t describe just how grateful we are.

Neither of us came from a hospitality background. We were simply at a stage in life where we wanted to build something meaningful: something that gave us purpose while raising our little one.

Two weeks into starting Oishibro, the biggest foodie event in Aotearoa reached out. We couldn’t sleep that night. “Seriously? Is this real?” We kept pinching ourselves, feeling incredibly blessed for such a wonderful opportunity.

It honestly felt like a fever dream🙈All the doubts we had about starting a food truck business, especially one introducing something completely new to Aotearoa, suddenly felt like a sign that we were on the right path.

Of course, we know food is subjective, and we’re not here to prove anything. We’re simply here to share our love for Japanese culture and our take on Japanese pressed senbei with as many people as we can.

Being given the opportunity to showcase our little senbei truck at The Food Show NZ has been an absolute privilege (thanks team🥹).

We’re now back at markets again, and we don’t take any of these opportunities, or the incredible support from market organisers and our customers, for granted.

We can’t wait to see you all again.
