Lately at Ojus… curiosity is growing everywhere! 🌱💙💛

From investigating insect life cycles and turning food scraps into compost to tending our garden and caring for our school animals, our students are learning through discovery, teamwork, and kindness.

Busy hands. Growing minds. Caring hearts. That’s Ojus. 🐐🐔♻️

Ask your child: Which would you choose—garden crew, science squad, or farm helpers? 👇

For Food Waste Prevention Week, our students took action to keep food scraps out of the landfill and give them a second life! ♻️🌱

Instead of going to waste, leftover scraps from our cafeteria and homes were collected, weighed, and added to our school compost beds to feed our gardens.

Here is our daily impact break down:
• Monday: 14 lbs
• Tuesday: 19 lbs
• Wednesday: 31 lbs
• Thursday: 17 lbs
• Friday: 12 lbs

🎉 Grand Total: 93 lbs of organic waste saved and transformed into rich soil for our gardens! 🎉

Thank you to our amazing student leaders and staff for making sustainability a daily practice! 💚

💙💛 Leading with heart. Helping every star shine. 🌟

This National Principals Month, we celebrate Ojus Elementary’s very own Dr. Marta Mildred Mejia!

An advocate for every child, a mentor to educators, and a leader who turns care into action, Dr. Mejia brings passion and purpose to our school community. Whether supporting a teacher, working alongside a student, or stepping in wherever she’s needed, she leads by example—with heart.

Thank you, Dr. Mejia, for all you do to help our Ojus Stars shine! ⭐

Join us in sharing some love for Dr. Mejia in the comments! 💙

One leftover potato. One creative Pre-K chef. One delicious idea! 🥔✨

For our Leftovers to Legends Family Recipe Challenge, Matsvei turned a boiled potato from dinner into golden potato pancakes. He grated the potato, cracked the egg, added flour and salt, and mixed it all together. Mom handled the frying—and Matsvei ate three! 😋

Want to try Matsvei’s Potato Magic at home?

🥔 1 large leftover boiled potato
🥚 1 egg
🥄 2 tablespoons flour
🧂 A pinch of salt

Grate the potato, mix in the remaining ingredients, and have an adult fry the pancakes until golden.

Small changes make a big difference. Way to rescue food and create something wonderful, Matsvei! 💚🌎
