“I think it’s important for all of us to know what our limits are and what we are capable of as individuals. I can’t claim to cure you and there’s no way I can sit here and say “get the vaccine and you’re never going to get COVID 19”. However, what I do know from the part of the population that has been vaccinated, and for us that’s primarily health workers, is that the rate at which we are admitting nurses and doctors in this wave, post our vaccination initiation, has dramatically declined in comparison to the rate at which we were admitting them in June 2020.” - Dr. @kageeso Motse

Bullying: Something’s gotta give!

My heart bleeds for Lufuno but also for many others like her whose incidents did not make it to social media. Would there have been such a swift arrest of the accused if Lufuno had not committed suicide? How often have similar incidents occurred but because the suicide could not be directly linked to one single incident of bullying, nothing was done.

All stakeholders need to take responsibility in accepting their role in ensuring the well being and safety of all children, not just their own.

Through @ok_soimthinking I discovered that writing freely, amongst other things, is therapeutic.

I want this site to be a place where there is something for everyone, I would like for whoever comes here to be able to comment freely and for readers to engage with me and with each other.

Yes, we are all different and we won’t always agree . . . that’s perfect, as long as we disagree in love and with respect.

Let me know if there’s something you would like to hear my thoughts on.

Growing up there are certain things we saw our mothers/aunts and grandmothers do that made us say or think, “I want to do that.”
But from when you’re on your own, we do things by gut instincts - @joanne_mooney

Let’s not be the people who put even more pressure on moms than they already experience.

If she doesn’t carry a bag, let her live! If she carries a small one just big enough for a packet of tissues, let her live! Even if she does have a massive one big enough filled with every single thing you could possibly need when out and about, also . . .

Is motherhood a trap?

In my latest piece I have the privilege of talking to moms about motherhood.

Through them I was reminded that:

1. I'm not alone in feeling like being a mom is tough because it is.

2. Mom's are always feeling guilty about one thing or another, I don't need to add to it by being judgy about her journey.

3. Each stage of motherhood comes with its own experiences, struggles and lessons.
