Surf City Run 5K - Race Day: So, this race marked the middle of my off-season. It was a way to gauge where I stand for next season's races, and I’m really happy with my performance. Also tried my first pair of carbon-plated super shoes, the Cielo X1 from Hoka, and they made a huge difference—I felt like I was flying. My overall time was a bit slower than I wanted but that was because I started behind a bunch of walkers and back markers. Ran with Dr. Kiet That Ton (@tructhao_kate ) and even bumped into Jimmy from LARR mid-race (love seeing my LARR buddies at races). Overall, it was a fun race, and I came in third place within my division. . Time: 21:53 Pace: 7:02 min/mi Overall: 72/1455 Gender: 77/673 Division: 3/58 . OC Half Marathon - Race Day: Coach David (@coach_davidlevine ) always says, 'Just have fun with it!' and boy, did I. Started slow (yes, took a bathroom break at mile 1, lol), chilled from miles 2 to 4, then picked it up from mile 5. The rest was history. Finished 43 min and 37 sec faster than six years ago. Could have gone faster, but what's the point? Gotta have fun with it. Ran with Chris (@walnut_group ) and Hannah (@hannahparkk ) from LARR. . LA Marathon - Race Day: This was actually my worst marathon performance, but overall it was a fun season. No, I didn’t fall like last year. This time, I had cramps. Around mile 14, I started feeling the signs, and by mile 16, the cramps had set in. My race was essentially over, but I managed to finish. In the weeks following the race, I talked with Coach David (@coach_davidlevine ) and realized that during race week, I drank a lot of water, which isn’t bad in itself. However, it led to frequent peeing, and I ended up flushing out the electrolytes my body needed for the race without replacing them. So yeah, race went kaput but I learned a lot. On the bright side, this was my first year running with LARR, and I’ve never had as much fun running in my life. I met a lot of great people, made friends, and created lasting memories. Finally, a super-duper big shout-out to Auzzsa (@blahistaken ) for coming out to support me ❤️ . Time: 4:37:44 Pace: 10:36 min/mi Overall: 6626/20475 Gender: 5066/12895 Division: 511/1301 . Rock 'n' Roll SD Marathon - Race Day: Yeah, this morning was rough! I'm just glad it's done ✌🏽 . Time: 4:15:40 Pace: 9:45 min/mi Overall: 1558/4440 Gender: 1221/2994 Division: 191/450 . Day 150/365 and 883 days of consecutive runs: Relaxed running is key to race readiness. Training - Tempo Run - 40m to 1h: 5 miles at Tempo Pace; with a warm-up and cool-down. #tbt #latepost #runstreak #day883 #runeveryday #strava #hokaoneone #roadrunnersports by @okechi.runs
Day 141/365 and 874 days of consecutive runs: Errbody ready ready for summer, but I'm just tryna function. Training - Fast Finish Long Run - 1h 45m to 2h 15m: 2-6 miles at Long Run Pace then progress to 6-8 miles at Goal Marathon Pace then progress to 1-2 miles at 10K pace. Today was the final big Fast Finish Long Run. Focus was more on cruising along at marathon pace for the middle portion and running fast at the end but not fast enough to race the workout. #tbt #latepost #runstreak #day874 #runeveryday #strava #hokaoneone #roadrunnersports #roses #imanbek #remix #saintjhn by @okechi.runs
The SDCCU OC Marathon - Race Day: Nerves got the better of me today. Forgot my vest after reaching the start venue, but had to go back home to get it. Why? Because it had all my electrolytes and without it cramps are guaranteed. Then, because my watch froze I lost time looking up how to fix it on YouTube while running. Wild! Still sucked cos I ran blind most of the race. It wasn't until I caught up with the 3:55 pace group in mile 10 that I had some idea of how I was doing. The first 5K split was extremely slow. If it had been around 25 minutes I would have finished the race in under 9 min/mile. Overall, it could have been better but this is a win and I'll take it. Definitely a much better race than LA where everything went wrong. Now it's on to the next: San Diego ✌🏽 . Time: 3:58:25 Pace: 9:06 min/mi Overall: 576/2107 Gender: 460/1421 Division: 73/191 . LA Marathon - Race Day: Everything that can go wrong, went wrong. Oh, and I fell... open sores in three different areas including my knees. Plus the added bonus of rolled ankles from the same fall. Pretty much limped to the finish line. Definitely not how I wanted this to go, but we move. The only good part was seeing my friends. Also, I finally got to eat cake by the ocean 😂 . Time: 4:30:39 Pace: 10:20 min/mi Overall: 4667/16998 Gender: 3602/10639 Division: 542/1340 . LA Big 5K - Race Day: Same story, started late, actually really late (cos had to take a pit stop at race start) therefore was left dodging walkers. Lots of walkers. Also the course sucked. Anywho it was an okay race, wasn't planning on running fast or anything.... saving that for tomorrow. . Time: 25:38 Pace: 8:15 min/mi Overall: 271/5201 Gender: 556/2345 Division: 31/311 . Rose Bowl Half Marathon - Race Day: Of course I started late, but that's not what matters. It's the results. P.C. @finisherpix .
