YOUR ARMS ARE MY COCOON in CHICAGO
@yourarmsaremycocoon YAAMC statement below

Us, the other bands, and all 600 people that showed up to the show came to chop shop with open hearts, open minds and open arms searching for a new bigger place that we that we could play our music in and have fun and dance with more people, and they totally and fundamentally rejected us. Chop shop rejected us for who we are and who the people who come to our shows are. That is the reason that we will not play there again. They rejected us and they disrespected every single person in attendance.

When we as a community stand up to what is unjust and unjust authority, we can accomplish great things. The solidarity that we found last night against the people trying to keep us down was beautiful. If everyone that was there can continue to defend their communities against what is unjust by standing up for themselves and their peers, then they can continue to uplift and defend themselves from bullies and people trying to take them down for being themselves.

We love you all.

~YAAMC

Truly thank you to @wuts_his_face for standing up for us in the community

This Thankstaking week @rosacade_ & @battleofblairmountain1921 will be making the long march to the big apple for the very first time 🍎

Not sure why we haven’t ventured east sooner, but we’re very excited to make our way over for this ephemeral tour. Look out for individual flyers coming soon 👀😳

Endless thanks to all of our friends in @hello.silkyy for booking the new york and jersey dates, @a19231of1juice for the richmond date, and @peglegrecords for booking pegleg fest in Atlanta and having us on 💌💌💌

Much love to them and also to our friends @okhijo5, and @douglus_one_for_all who will be coming with to help and support us in innumerable ways…

and thank you especially if you have ever come to one of our shows, bought merch, streamed our music, or had an interaction with any of us. Without you, none of this could have even been imagined. To play our music in so many beautiful states and speak out about what we believe in is an ineffable feeling and immense privilege, thank you.

with love,

DEAD BUTTERFLIES in Chicago
@deadbutterfliesband
Statement from black dice about yesterday below

Last night was all about gathering as a community to enjoy music, but the behavior of Chop Shop was an absolute failure of professionalism and basic respect. I do not condone the way the venue handled this show one bit, and saw a complete lack of de-escalation, security having full blown power trips, manhandling, groping, assaulting, swearing at showgoers (mostly minors) and bands, and carrying people out of the venue with no warning. To claim they didn’t know what to expect from the show despite having photo proof of them acknowledging it is a complete joke.

What’s most important is what came next, taking our energy and turning it into something special. I thank everyone for pivoting at such short notice to gather at Wicker Park for an acoustic set, which was a massive testament to this community and what we are capable of. Last night proved that the spirit of our scene is far more powerful than any venue that disrespects us as a scene and as human beings.

Thank you to the bands for being down for the relocation, and a big shoutout to everyone that helped organize the show, moving equipment, finding an acoustic guitar, and so much more. None of this would have happened without your help, and I appreciate everyone for showing up for one another and making it a special night despite the atrocious behavior from Chop Shop. Despite all the negatives, I hope that you all had a wonderful night and am glad that the show was able to find a new life in Wicker Park. My messages are always open to anyone who needs to talk or wants to discuss their experience with the venue and their staff.

I love this scene more than words can describe, and I thank you for turning last night into a night that I’ll remember forever.

Love, Sam of Black Dice Records.
