Last week I climbed a mountain. This week, today specifically, I've turned one year older. A lesson I've learned - and I will never graduate from - is that life is all about perspective.Initially, climbing the mountain was not fun. It felt like hell. My eyes... stinging, my chest...wheezing, my calves...failing. And what's more, is that with every upward step I took, it felt like the top was further away. That I wasn't on the right path or taking the right direction. In summary, it felt like pure pain and confusion.But then I reached the top (sort of) {And took this photo - it's quite wavy tbh}The initial climbing sensation is typically how life has felt for me a lot of the time. Difficult. Arduous. Unrewarding. Insurmountable. And usually on birthdays these feelings overwhelm me and as such I play it down. So I rarely celebrate in the way I should.But...today I'm glad. I'm glad I climbed that mountain. I'm glad I got to do it with some cool people. I'm glad I got to take some pictures that I will share with my kids one day. And I'm glad that God has given me another year. Another year to keep climbing. Another year to deepen relationships. Another year to discover myself and to discover more of Him. To take steps forward, to recover from falls, sidetracks and detours. He is sovereign and I have to remind myself that even when I feel like giving up, He is watching, waiting and willing me on. Every step of the way.So happy birthday to me 😂and to everyone who reads this....keep climbing and helping other to climb too 👣🪜🤍 by @oko__j
