We have created so many beautiful images with @helena_makeup_events that it would be almost impossible to share them all! ✨

You’ve already seen some of her more classical portraits, but I also wanted to share this one — a softer, fine-art expression of femininity that celebrates her grace, extraordinary beauty, and simply being.

There’s something about the earthy tones, delicate textures, and dried fern that makes this portrait feel almost like a quiet conversation between a woman and nature. 🤎

I came across this artist’s beautiful work through Instagram a couple of months ago and was delighted to know that she is based in San Ramon. I knew right away that I wanted to be behind her lens. We met, and she invited me to be a part of her brilliant project called ‘Faces of Heritage’, a “portrait project exploring the cultural roots of people living in the United States. Each image reflects the connection between a person and their heritage — the traditions, memories, and symbols that become part of identity and self-expression.”

Three portraits: the blue one is Mama’s wedding dupatta, 54 years old. So is most of the jewelry. The green one is from mine, 25 years ago.

I hate getting my pictures taken (believe it or not!), but the ease of working with @oksanakovneva was unbelievable. She has an eye of a brilliant artist choreographing every little detail: the hand gesture, the emotion, the expression, the hair, the symmetry. This was such a special experience ♥️

Family sessions are always a combination of mixed feelings: Mom wants the photos done, some dads - not so much 😄 Kids — some care, some couldn’t care less.

But then the session starts, and so does the fun.

And somehow, we end up with so many beautiful moments captured along the way — smiles, hugs, laughter, Dad’s jokes, and Mom’s happy heart. ❤️

I had such a pleasure photographing this beautiful family — so much positive energy, gorgeous kids, and two amazing-looking parents who made the whole session feel effortless and fun.

And that’s what family photos are really about: creating memories you’ll be able to come back to, cherish, and relive for years to come.
