Few months ago I held a glitch art workshop with @boredpeachclub in Gozo and for this particular occasion I created a custom file format encoder with 10 custom "special" bulletproof file formats to help participants dwelling with Databending without breaking files and enjoy some old school GLITCHING stress free.

I had the pleasure to share this workshop with a wicked group of people who beta tested DIS/əncødər. Here I also met @oksy.mt, a DJ && Producer who kindly allowed me to glitch her photo portrait.

Flicking through the photos you see the different glitches generated with each file format. I used XVI32 for the databending, GLITCHING the hard way.

DIS/format cønvərtər — encoder/decoder for databending. 10 native formats. one HTML file, no plugins.

Each format is a different way of breaking the channel order. open it raw, edit the bytes, decode back. Simple as that.

🔥 I also named some file formats after @boredpeachclub (.bpc) to thank them for inviting me and, after Malta (.mlt) and Gozo (.goz), so the Islands have now their file formats named in their honour as if these two file formats are two new discovered stars in the firmament of digital file formats universe. The first image in this carousel is the Bored Peach Club's file format.

BØRƏD PÆCH CLUB

.BPC = RGBE exposure encoding. the 4th byte is the gain knob per pixel.

PS: I will release the final DIS/əncødər version in August with my new website. If you want to try it now and beta test it for me, I appreciate your feedback, DM and I send you the HTML app.
