amidst the pathetically misguided construction of a second border wall being constructed along and on the southern boundary of the Tohono O'odham Nation reservation, the people, the people who are of this land, they continue to focus on growing traditional indigenous crops, promoting food sovereignty, and preserving ancestral farming practices.

Yesterday at Tres Piedras NM, the USDA Ranger Station was closed. The kiosk outside the building offered a QR code that directed me to the US Department of Agriculture’s website. I was met with a statement that began with “The Radical Left Democrats shut down the government.” A disclaimer that was meant to incite not unite us.
Although Woody Guthrie said “this land is our land”, I’ve never felt like I owned any of it. It’s not mine or yours or anyone’s land. I think the people that were here long before us understood that better than anyone, and I think some of us still do.
I celebrate that understanding today. taken in Tres Piedras, New Mexico by @okworker33
