LIGHTBULB short film shoot last weekend. One cartridge of super 8 for @straight_8_ competition. Loveeed the no editing high stakes of working this way plus getting to wear this dramatic AF costume as Evelda.

PLAYER opens at Riverside Studios tomorrow til the end of the month, woop woop! The video of cavewoman in lycra (aka yours truly using a tree as a tripod) was one of the audition clips that I sent over to @npp_productions whilst bikepacking New Zealand at the start of the year.

32 days on the bike, cycling 2473km from Auckland to Queenstown was one of the most physically and emotionally challenging things I’ve done…and also so so beautiful and a lot fun. There was blood, sweat and tears, yes…thrill, beauty, laughter, also yes.

Massive thank you to @cam.mcalister for this shared journey, for planning everything and making my introduction to New Zealand such an unforgettable experience.

I learnt that the Māori name for New Zealand is Aotearoa which means “land of the long white cloud”. So thank you Aotearoa, for your sublime natural splendour and for the kindness and generosity of your people. Thank you to the friends who helped us out along the way, you know who you are, and also heartfelt gratitude for the total strangers who took it upon themselves to clothe/feed/water/house us out of the goodness of their hearts! Meet Bartholomew. Bartholomew comes from a long line of Casting Directors, Producers and Studio Executives. His Great-Grandfather conceived the idea for motion pictures whilst under the influence of mescaline, his Grandfather discovered Charlie Chaplin and made him a star and his Father was head of Paramount and 20th Century Fox and Bartholomew firmly believes that he, himself, had learnt the tricks of the trade by osmosis long before he'd even emerged from his Mother's womb (nine times Oscar winner Tabitha Cuthbert-Hoxton). Bartholomew knows what works. He only has to hear an actors walking pattern approaching his audition room to know whether they are castable, whether they are bankable, whether they have 'it' or not. In the vast majority of cases he has to turn them away before they've fully opened the door. Bartholomew believes the movie industry is on its last legs, that no one has got what it takes any more. He often exclaims in interviews that he loathes the jobbing actor with a passion that can only be remedied with Cuban cigars. As a result of this he is currently setting up an AI film company and plans to cast exclusively AI talent going forward. Bartholomew strongly denies all recent claims in the press that he went to the island 97 times.

The Flying Seagull Project Playtime Poland tour was FOR SURE one of my 2025 highlights! So grateful to @laurenmwell for introducing me to this incredible charity: The Flying Seagull Project who are a group of clowns who bring joy and play to refugee children around the world.

I joined the Playtime Poland tour as the team’s Polish translator as well as a volunteer clown. After a couple days in The Netherlands, we drove to Poland and toured the country for a month, stopping at as many orphanages and community centres as we could to provide puppetry workshops, circle games, circus free play sessions and clown shows mainly for children displaced by the war in Ukraine.

The smiles on the kids’ faces were priceless and we were met with such warmth and generosity. Between workshops, one woman insisting on feeding us homemade Ukrainian Borscht (despite having 5 of her own kids to feed!), another mother and daughter gifting us adorable handmade keyrings as a “thank you”, a Polish mechanic fixing our van door for free…the list goes on. You really don’t need have to have a lot to give a lot.

Also shoutout to the incredible international team: Eline, Roos, Brigitte, Erin, Lucy, Théophile! Thank you for making my first seagull experience so easy and so fun. Your kindness, responsibility, maturity, talent, openness, authenticity and JOY OF LIVING made travelling, working and living together (even in the smallest of apartments) a genuine pleasure! I sleep easier at night knowing you are out there spreading your vibes in your respective countries and beyond.🩷

⬇️4 Toltec wisdom agreements for all our relations:
1. 📝BE IMPECCABLE WITH YOUR WORD Words are spells baby! Use your words with integrity. Speak/write truthfully and kindly. Don’t speak against yourself or slip into gossiping about others. Words carry creative power so say what you mean and mean what you say.

2. 🪐DON’T TAKE ANYTHING PERSONALLY It’s not about you babe. Every person is their own universe. Nothing others do is because of you, it’s a reflection of their own reality, capacity, beliefs, and wounds. When you stop taking things personally, you free yourself from needless suffering, yay!

3. 🗣️DON’T MAKE ASSUMPTIONS It’s got the word ass in it for a reason honey pie. Most conflict comes from assumptions. Ask questions, seek clarity, communicate openly. Don’t assume you know what others think, feel, or intend.

4. 🤲🏻ALWAYS DO YOUR BEST Woah don’t let your inner perfectionist get too excited here. Your “best” changes from moment to moment. When you do what you can with presence and integrity, you avoid regret, self-judgment, and burnout. Your best on a tender, tired day will look different from your best on a bright, energised day. Trust that who you are today is enough.

This book has guided how I move through life for over a decade now. These 4 simple agreements have been a Godsend for all my relationships, be they platonic, romantic, familial, professional, with myself or just with a random stranger on the tube, also for my creativity, my work, my freedom and inner peace. 10/10 recommending to friends.

With utmost compassion for the parts of us that are scared of being seen, scared of being rejected, scared of getting it “wrong” or being “too much” or “not enough”…the ego want to keep us safe after all, but growth happens outside the comfort zone baby.

Once we acknowledge, hold and love aaaall over those scared parts of us, then memento mori! : remember you must die!

Acting work has been quiet this year so this cooouuld be a symptom of me missing an audience, missing the camera, missing the attention….but to level with you that feels like an oversimplification.

“the people now care for nothing but two things: bread and circuses”

I have been thinking about this quote (from Juvenal, Roman dude from way back when), which modern writers have paraphrased to “give the people bread and circuses and they will never revolt”.

When I think of social media as being part of the circus that distracts us from what really matters, then I don’t want to contribute content to it or give it any of my time or energy.

However, as much as I love and recommend a good social media detox, every time I delete Instagram I end up coming back here…so I am starting to accept that clearly at this point in my life I simply enjoy going to the circus (and if you’re reading this then chances are you do too honey pie)!

So then I think, “hang on, if I am at the circus anyway then I may as well show UP, shift gears from fear & consumption to creation & love vibration.”

Maybe then the circus can go from distraction to playground, a portal to prepare for and dream into a reality with a more beautiful future? Only one way to find out.

I’m curious if any of this resonates with you?

Posting this to prove to my ego that I can show up in any which way I like. I’m sure I will bring back some silly character videos too though because laughter is the best medicine and if we take ourselves too seriously we might explode xx taken in London by @olaforman
