💛 The second essay from the Love Letters series.

I have a particularly soft spot for this one. It feels like the first time I let myself think about the image not as cinema, but as something closer to abstract composition and design (love goes to DOP @ssstreet_voice )

Also, it was worth buying what felt like the entire lemon section at Lidl 🍋

Massive love to the whole team, and especially to Amie, who patiently put up with the cold and with us asking for “just one more take” over again)

Fun fact: the film stock had to cross the Turkish border, so if you notice a few X-ray marks, that’s their little cameo. Still beautiful, though.

Unsent Love Letters is a project that came from a desire to create something gentle in Berlin - to film the places we love and walk through every day, and to make something simple and sensitive.

Lily and I imagined it as a series of vignettes. In the end, we created four short visual essays, all unfolding within a single location: the Oscar Niemeyer House near Tiergarten.

The weather that day was absolutely wild - pouring rain and relentless wind. I’m endlessly grateful to our team for creating something so beautiful through the storm.

One thing I’ve learned about myself is that casting is my favorite part of filmmaking. Our models were incredible. The first film is about Saehee, who completely charmed us and brought a movie magic to the set.

My soul summer project as a dp with my dearest friends.
Also my second-ever project on 16mm as a dp🥹

A pure DIY vibe - sharing one sandwich between two people and figuring out how to load film into the Aaton together via youtube))

Finally sharing a little soul thing I’ve been carrying around for a while.
A small art doc about some very special girls @l.ow.j and @yasmin_skn and their baby - the bold and soft @essai.project

I was really lucky to meet them, and they let me see their world. And for me it wasn’t just about making video together - it quietly made Berlin feel more like a place where I could belong. That feeling of oh, so this is why I came. Being able to meet people like them. That’s a lot.

This isn’t a full documentary, obviously. More like a glimpse, a slice, a breath you catch for a moment and then it’s gone.
