After His resurrection, Jesus restores Peter redeeming him from the three times he denied Him and entrusts him with a clear assignment: tend and feed My sheep.

Yet in John 21:20–24, Peter turns and asks,
“But Lord, what about this man?” (referring to John).

Jesus responds with a profound correction:
“If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me.”

In essence, Jesus reminds Peter that his primary responsibility is obedience to his own calling, not comparison with someone else’s assignment. What Jesus chooses to do with John is His business. Peter’s focus is simple and direct: follow Me.

This is a powerful message to carry into the new year.

We live in a world filled with distractions where social media and constant visibility can make it easy to measure ourselves by other people’s pace, platforms, blessings, or outcomes. But Jesus does not lead everyone the same way. Someone else’s journey is not your measuring stick.

So this year, I’m choosing to:
• seek Jesus clearly in every decision
• stay focused on my own assignment
• refuse to measure purpose by popularity
• never trade obedience for attention
• guard my heart against comparison and remain consistent

The call remains the same:
Seek Jesus. Trust Him. Follow the path He has set for you.

As we celebrate Christ this season, it’s important to pause and reflect on who Jesus truly is, the kingdom He represents, and what it means to belong to that kingdom.

In John 18:35–36, when Pilate questions Jesus about His actions, Jesus responds:

“My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest… But now my kingdom is from another place.”

This statement is a powerful reminder that the authority of Jesus does not come from earthly systems,
not from governments, violence, armies, or political power.

Jesus makes it clear that His kingdom is spiritual, not territorial.

It is rooted in truth, obedience to God, and transformed hearts, not worldly institutions or influence.
His authority comes directly from God and is expressed through humility, love, justice, and truth far above the reach of earthly power.

If we truly identify as citizens of God’s kingdom, then our lives must reflect the values of that kingdom here on earth.
We are called to live differently not shaped by the world, but shaped by Christ.

That means we must learn to:
• lead without ego
• love with empathy
• speak the truth of Jesus Christ boldly and unashamed
• serve God with humility
• teach with kindness and grace
• choose Christ-like values over worldly wins

To celebrate Christ is not just to acknowledge Him, it is to live consciously under His kingship.

So as we celebrate, let us also examine ourselves:
Do our lives reflect the kingdom we say we belong to?
