I am after thoughts on a wine cabinet to store 120 to 170 bottles of champagne, laying on racks. It is for a cool dark area and if it has cooling/heating/humidity that will be turned off. I am just trying to keep most of my fizz in one spot, neatly instead of a heap of cardboard boxes stacked against a wall. I have tried to locate Soern & Isabelle Svejstrup since they relocated from the Ariege in France to Copenhagen without success. I know they paddled a kayak around an island in Dennark last year but when I wrote to Danish paper for info I received no response. Wendy & I met them in Kenya when they were riding the tandem bike around the world. A logging truck smashed them up badly and they recuperated in the Ariege. That was the next time we saw them 20 years ago! They returned to Denmark about 10 years ago & changed ISP & I lost contact. They knew Wendy died. #friends #denmark by @olddodger1953

This is the second book by Geologist Alex Maltman. Many wine people talk about flavours that are to do with the Geology of where a wine comes from. I have never seen the flavours but understand the commonality. To me the place is the key aspect. Hopefully the varietal shines and the winemaking is in the background. Another excellent geology book is Terroir by James E Wilson. by @olddodger1953

Lovely afternoon at Dodges Ferry. Car is charged and house batteries at 55% (25kWH). Mylee being treated for bacterial arthritis of knee so I only took him for short walks around the hill. Carol took Bryn the bench surfer to Park beach. #chillingathome #sundays by @olddodger1953

Compare the pair. The first is a typical champagne cork with visible lenticels that, IMHO allow too much oxygen ingress. The second is a French invention called Mytic Diam. It seals very well permitting lower levels of sulfur dioxide to be used. I wish people who review or write about champagne would nominate which type of closure was used. Jaqueson and @charlesheidsieckchampagne are two who use mytic diam by @olddodger1953
