Tickets on sale now at 🔗⬆️ or at the box office!

🪦 Tracing the roots of zombie mythology from Haitian Vodou through its depictions in modern pop culture, Maya Annik Bedward’s BLACK ZOMBIE is a dense and passionate documentary that is as entertaining as it is enlightening.

🩸TEENAGE SEX AND DEATH AT CAMP MIASMA, Jane Schoenbrun’s latest exploration of identity and media, is a queer romance, a love letter to and deconstruction of the slasher genre, and a metatextual screed against Hollywood’s reboot mania all at once.

Screens Saturday October 17 – 2:30pm, Sunday October 18 – 3:00pm, Saturday October 24 – 5:00pm, and Sunday October 25 – 2:00pm by @oldfilmsflicker

Some news! I want to thank everyone for their support after my post about my stress related hair loss a week or so ago. After a few more showers where clumps of hair fell out I decided I had enough. I actually shaved my head once before, in 2016 before I drove from LA to ATL to work at TCM/FilmStruck (that was after having a platinum blonde mohawk for three years.) It feels good. I’m ready to hit forty next month with renewed energy. Thank you to Shannon at Floyd’s on Irving Park for doing a great job and @kate_scott_photography for taking this photo during my introduction of @unadosa’s spectacular new film TIME AND WATER at @chicagocritics Film Festival last night. We’ve got three more banger nights at @musicboxchicago. I especially want to urge people to come out for the documentary BLACK ZOMBIE tonight (Tuesday) co-presented by the great @blackwomendirectors. Also, Must-Watch Indies is back at @facetschicago for the next few weekends. I’ll be introducing Saturday’s screenings of ALL THAT’S LEFT OF YOU and DEAD LOVER, but you can also catch up with PILLION. And on May 16th we’ll be presenting DEAD LOVER in Stink-O-Vision! I’m off to Cannes on Sunday, where I hope to make lots of connections and see lots of great films and practice my rusty French. Onward! Allons-y! by @oldfilmsflicker

And @812filmreviews for supporting me in every way possible while I worked on it over the last four years.

Went very, very long on DIGGER, YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING, and NAZA as reflections of the limits of a shared reality in our post-truth world. This piece spoils the movies extensively, so you might want to save and read after you’ve seen them.
