Christmas planning is well and truly underway, and Hatfield Park has plenty to choose from this festive season!

🎄 Christmas Party Nights at the historic Old Palace are perfect for small groups who still want a big celebration.

🎅 Little ones can join the Park's storyteller for a fairy-lit walk through the Knot Garden, ending at The Old Palace where Santa will be waiting by the fire!

🕯️ @thelondonstringtrio will be performing a medley of festive music by candlelight in The Great Hall on Saturday 5th December.

More details available on @hatfield_park's website.

To our other Old Hatfield businesses - what have you got planned this Christmas? We'd love to share news of events and offers with the community.

The Woodman pub at Wild Hill has been a favourite among locals since it opened in the 1850s, and it was thanks to its faithful regulars that it quickly reopened after a brief closure in 1961.

Local residents created and signed a petition to bring the pub back, the late Dame Barbara Cartland among them, and that petition still hangs on the pub's walls today!

Since then, the free house has been named local CAMRA Pub of the Year thirteen times and Hertfordshire Pub of the Year three times, which tells you most of what you need to know about visiting today. 🍺

A ten-minute drive from Hatfield Park, it offers a change of scene for lunch or a drink without straying far from home.

Before the much-loved pub on West End Lane was known as The Candlestick, it was The Chequers. 🕯️

The story goes that a former landlord kept a single candle in the bar and took it down to the cellar with him whenever he went to fetch the beer, leaving everyone else in the dark. The name stuck, and the pub has carried it ever since.

Today, it's a classic country pub with cask ales on the bar, a kitchen ready to deliver top-notch Sunday roasts and a very warm welcome for walkers, cyclists and dogs.

It sits a short way south of Hatfield Park, so could be the perfect pub pitstop after an autumn walk in the Park.

Welcome to Hill End Farmhouse. 🏡

When we renovated this charming property in 2023, care was taken to create a home suited to modern family life while preserving its rural heritage and character.

Set within Hill End Farm on the Hatfield Park Estate, the four-bedroom farmhouse features a spacious kitchen and dining room, three bathrooms and a generous drawing room, alongside a log-burning stove, boot room, workshop and garage.

Outside, a large garden looks out across the far-reaching countryside, with local amenities, the A1 and 25-minute mainline rail services to London all close by.

Remember our post on Real Tennis earlier this year? Here's your chance to get involved. 🎾

Our community has grown quite a bit since that first post, so for anyone new here: Real Tennis is the oldest racquet sport and the predecessor of modern lawn tennis and squash.

It's played on a unique indoor court, of which there are only 27 left in the UK - and one is at @hatfield_park!

The Hatfield House Real Tennis Club is inviting visitors to try their hand at the sport during a series of introductory open days in the last week of September.

To find out more and book your place, tap the link in our bio.
