Organ Mountains - Desert Peaks National Monument, Las Cruces, New Mexico
December 21 & 22, 2023

Some more pics of the Organ Mountains, views from the Eastern and Western side of Mountain.
The Eastern offers a different landscape with better definition of the Rabbit Ears, and also Sugarloaf, which you can’t see from the Western side. by @oldlonewolf.57

La Cueva Loop,
Organ Mountains - Desert Peaks National Monument, Las Cruces, New Mexico
December 21, 2023

Morning shot of “The Needles”, while waiting for the gate to open at 8am. (More pics to come as I explored from other angles later in the day).
I always like to identify the peaks I’m looking at, so if you care to know; Organ Peak and Baldy on the right, in the middle is Organ Needle, the tallest one at 8885ft. Then Rabbit Ears on the left near the dip, Baylor Peak on the far left.

The trail itself was a Moderate 3 mile hike on the West side of the Organ Mountains.
Also a good spot for seeing the city of Las Cruces. On this day, you couldn’t see a city as it was completely covered by some low fog activity.

Franklin Mountains State Park, El Paso, Texas.
December 19, 2023

I had many visits to El Paso in my Defense Contractor days and dreaded those work trips. But passing through, I figured I’d check out the Franklin Mountains which I never took the opportunity to visit before.
There is now one good thing I can say about El Paso.

Carlsbad Caverns National Park, New Mexico
December 16, 2023

I’m not too big on Cave Exploring. Not a fan of being tied down to a schedule and squeezed into tight corridors with tour groups. But Carlsbad Caverns is set up where you can explore freely at your own pace.
This place reminded me of the Alien movies. No facehuggers or xenomorphs though.

Santa Elena Canyon, big Bend National Park, Texas

Last attraction to check out at BBNP. This Canyon is split by the Rio Grande River.
Right side sits on USA soil and the Left side is part of Mexico.
