Old Pulteney Polaris has sold at the @distillers_one_of_one auction for £62,500.Aged for 47 years, this never-to-be-repeated masterpiece encapsulates nearly two centuries of our distilling heritage. A look back into our past, and a guiding light for some remarkable things to come as Old Pulteney celebrates its 200th anniversary in 2026.Exceeding its estimated price of £26,000—£40,000, the vital funds raised through the sale of Polaris, along with proceeds from all other lots at the biennial auction, will be donated to The Distillers’ Charity.The Youth Action Fund is supported by the proceeds of the Distillers One of One Auction Series to transform the life chances of young people in Scotland aged between 16 and 25.Please savour Old Pulteney responsibly.#OldPulteney #DistillersOneOfOne #rarewhisky by @oldpulteneymalt

When releasing our oldest whisky to date, we wanted to not only celebrate this exceptionally rare liquid but also to create a unique piece of art that would showcase authentic maritime heritage and character. To do so, we partnered with the artisans at @glasstorm. Brodie Nairn and Nichola Burns, glass artists & designers, took their inspiration from the dramatic coastlines that surround our home on the Northern Shores of Scotland. “The inspiration for Old Pulteney Polaris was born from walking along Scotland’s north-east coastline, only a stone’s throw from Wick. While exploring this beautiful, rugged coastline, we discovered amazing rocky sea stacks known locally as ‘Thirle Door Arch’ and a unique view through this strata was framed perfectly – almost like a window out to the North Sea. It was this picturesque setting that inspired the design behind Polaris.’Polaris is a truly one-of-a-kind bottle that Old Pulteney is donating for October's @distillers_one_of_one auction, which aims to raise vital funds for The Distillers’ Charity.Please savour Old Pulteney responsibly. #OldPulteney #DistillersOneOfOne #rarewhisky by @oldpulteneymalt

Today marks the beginning of spring. The cold and dark winter months behind us, the sun shines on a peaceful Wick Harbour. It wasn't always like this, though, as back when Pulteney Distillery was founded in 1826, it was a hub of constant activity. With more than 1,000 herring drifters and larger vessels operating from the harbour, our whisky was the dram of choice for the thousands who descended upon our hometown. Harbour’s unique maturation process involves a quartet of hand-selected American oak casks, each imparting unique flavour profiles.
