Good morning and happy Monday. Sometimes you just have to tear into a problem and get wrenching… when you get into complex problems with multiple problems rather than one root cause sometimes you just have to dig in. I rarely get straight forward problems, those usually get snapped up by the team members who don’t have gray beards… I get left with the gray beard problems… and it is rewarding figuring out what the root causes are, however in the beginning when you are looking at all the symptoms and data it can be hard to figure out where to start. So after you let it all soak in you just have to jump in and figure it out. So don’t be afraid to jump in and get after it because that is what it takes. The tool of the day is the @knipex_official VDE multifunction electrician pliers. They are quickly becoming my favorite multitool these days. You can do a lot with them. I still want to try the new forged wire strippers at some point just so I can have a frame of reference. Also thanks to @panerabread for the iced Tea! That is what I needed today! #knipex #morningmotivation #knipexgang #toolsofthetrade #knipextools by @oldschool.tech
Good morning and happy Sunday, I hope you all are having a fabulous Wera Weekend! Some say that I am an optimist, I feel like I am a realist, I am an expert of what is and a tour guide to get to where you want to be. I don’t focus as much on how we got here as I do on where we want to go. We are already here, that much is already established, what we want to know is how to get to where we want to be. I get that there are some who just want to complain about where we are at in the moment, but when has complaining ever helped? You know what helps? Decisive action helps. Figure out a plan and execute that plan and adjust along the way. That will get you where you want to be. No matter how much time we take to establish blame and complain about where we are that is not going to help us move forward if anything all it does is delay getting where we want to be… so set aside the complaining and get after it. Set a course and get moving forward because life moves forward, so don’t get stuck focusing on the past, if you do life will pass you by… The tool of the day is the @weratoolsna joker wrench! I really appreciate these wrenches. My only complaint is that I don’t have them all yet! Money well spent in my book. #weratools #weraweekend #realist #morningmotivation #weratoolrebels by @oldschool.tech
Who dis? Good things come in small packages. This has more torque than my @milwaukeetool mid torque m18 1/2” impact. Obviously this M12 is a hungry beast and does best when paired with their new 5AH battery. I have been a fan of Milwaukee power tools for a long time. And honestly as I get older I appreciate the m12 line more and more. My body ain’t getting any younger… and we all carry too many tools… the m12 lineup is one way to lighten the load without sacrificing the power… #milwaukee #m12fuel #powertools #milwaukeetools by @oldschool.tech
Another nice pair of pliers came in from @kc_tool @nwstoolprofis sure does make a nice pair of round nose pliers. And as always thanks for the @weratoolsna number 2 Philips bit… #kctool #nwstoolprofis #weratools #mailcall by @oldschool.tech
Good morning and happy Tuesday! Some of us are experts at holding a grudge. I am here today to say that there is a better way. Forgiveness costs you nothing and it can sure lighten the load that you carry. Holding a grudge is like drinking poison and hoping that the other person dies from it. They are likely unaware of the grudge and are unencumbered by it. The entire weight of the grudge is carried by you. It’s like carrying a heavy milling stone around with you… and my advice is to let go of the stone…. Hate is toxic, specifically to the one who holds on to that emotion. Forgiveness is a gift that you give yourself. You allow yourself to not carry that burden any more. By forgiving them you lighten your mental load. Forgiving others is a skill and like most things it gets easier with practice. Hating is also a skill that many of us have all too much practice at. But hate is toxic. Hate does not make you a better person. If you are unfamiliar with forgiveness I suggest you give it a try… because most people do deserve a second chance… The tool of the day is the @knipex_official VDE chrome plated cobra water pump pliers. What an exceptional pair of pliers. Very versatile… and very comfortable to use… #forgiveness #morningmotivation #knipex #handtools #knipexgang by @oldschool.tech
Good morning and happy Monday! Timing is rarely perfect. So why wait for perfect timing? Many people including me have gotten stuck by the idea to wait for better timing. Even a poor plan executed well is better than a perfect plan that sits on the drawing board forever. Timing is going to be what it is going to be. You just have to make up your mind to act. I have more regrets for things I did not do than I do for things I did. Take that for what it’s worth, but inaction is a decision that rarely works out the way you would expect. If I had a nickel for every time my timing was perfect I would still not have enough money to buy myself a coffee based on 1980’s prices… You’ve just got to accept that timing isn’t going to be perfect. Because it’s not. And one you have you can move on with what you know you need to do. Action almost always beats inaction… So get out there and live your life, stop waiting for the perfect moment, just get started. The best time to start something new is yesterday and the second best time is today. So get after it… time waits for no man… The tool of the day is the @weratoolsna VDE Kraftform Robertson number one screwdriver. What a fantastic screwdriver. They also clean up well. This darker color hides dirt too 😀 Also thanks to @panerabread for the iced Tea! #timewaitsfornoone #morningmotivation #weratools #handtools #weratoolrebels by @oldschool.tech
So I was out getting more wire ties. Don’t ask me how you run out of wire ties. Sometimes I think they just want to get rid of me for a minute… because I found a pack of wire ties when I came back with a bunch more lol… but any way I ran across this @southwiretools 5 pocket leather pouch for 15 bucks… I figured it was worth a try. I have no idea how it will hold up but for 15 bucks it was too good to pass up… #felofriday #southwire #finallyfriday #toolsofthetrade #handtools by @oldschool.tech
When you have to use the very best shears to go pick pumpkins with from your pumpkin patch. Had to pick the last two pumpkins… Tis the season… Are the @knipex_official shears made specifically for this? No! But they do work exceptionally well for it. I must admit they are really nice for said pumpkin picking… I have used them for all the pumpkins I picked this year… and will probably use them in the future as well… they really did a great job… #usewhatyouhave #knipex #pumpkinpatch #knipexgang #happyhalloween by @oldschool.tech
Good morning and happy Tuesday! Change is inevitable. Bottom line things change. This is the nature of life… being resistant to change is a loosing game. I am not saying that you need to be an early adopter, but everything changes eventually. One of my favorite movie quotes is “I will bend like a reed in the wind…” being flexible and resilient is the key to managing change. Think about it, how much has changed in the last five years? Now how much change do you expect to see in the next five years? A lot right? Change is expected. And it is not all bad. 20 years ago I could not log into Amazon and order new tools and have them the next morning. I get Amazon deliveries before the sun comes up. So some change is good… we just have to manage the change as best as possible… The tool of the day is the data shark wire stripper. I have used this for a long time and it is probably my favorite data wire stripper. The thoughtful design is just unmatched. It is effortless to use and very convenient. #changeisinevitable #morningmotivation #handtools #toolsofthetrade by @oldschool.tech
Good morning and happy Monday. I hope you are all having a good start to your week. It never hurts to try something new. To broaden your horizon, to push yourself, to grow, to give yourself a chance to learn something new. We don’t grow from a place of comfort. We don’t grow from complacency. We grow when we push ourselves or put ourselves into new and unfamiliar situations. Life is the journey. In my humble opinion a life well lived includes challenging yourself. Complacency will rob you of a great deal of satisfaction. Get out there and challenge yourself. Try something new, try something that takes you out of your comfort zone. What do you have to loose? The tool of the day is the @nwstoolprofis fx3 side cutters. They cut down the force needed by the wise use of leverage. They are different, but in a good way. And they will cut. #morningmotivation #nwstools #handtools #sidecutters #toolsofthetrade by @oldschool.tech
It’s time for the other side. New plugs and coil packs are in order. Plugs are 10 years old, coil packs are 22 and starting to cause problems. If they are coming off might as well just replace em at this point. I hope you are having a wonderful Wera Weekend! And if your not hang in there just like this @weratoolsna zyklop ratchet. #weraweekend #weratools #weratoolrebels #weratoolsna #hanginthere by @oldschool.tech
Good morning and happy Sunday. Looking busy and being busy are two different things. Do not get them confused. Being busy will produce results, as in finished jobs. Looking busy is just a skill some people have trying to avoid actual work. The thing is as I look around and see who has actually done work and who hasn’t it becomes pretty obvious. One of the new engineers took about a week to do what I can do in two hours. We let him go last week. Looking busy impresses no one who actually takes a moment to see what is actually going on, and trust me, those of us who manage teams see it, and it doesn’t go unnoticed. It also cannot go unaddressed. Otherwise frustration and resentment begins to build in a team. Team cohesion and morale are important. You cannot hold people to uneven standards. Fairness must rule… so my advice is, don’t look busy actually be busy. The way you can tell is simply by how much work you’ve done. So my advice is get busy and stay busy. The other benefit is that it makes your days breeze by faster. So dig in, focus on what you are doing and get busy. It’s like a form of time travel to the end of your work day. Not much beats a good work ethic and a good attitude. The tool of the day is the @knipex_official long reach needle nose pliers. These are simply fantastic, super handy and worth every penny I paid for them. As usual my only regret was not purchasing them sooner. #morningmotivation #knipex #handtools #knipexgang #getbusystaybusy by @oldschool.tech
