Finally got this 1973 rarity from the US on eBay .. such a fascinating and changing age for music fidelity for the consumer .. it’s a beautiful little book with some great photos of people of all ages and genders enjoying HIfi .. the emergence of quadraphonic (and 3 channel !!) .. tape and cassette use .. speaker building .. it’s like a Ladybird book for audio nerds with some classic early 70s gear in it. The best coffee table book really taken in Archway, London by @oldvalvemic

Pretty happy with my new artwork from @lukepiper4 .. the beautiful Nova II in my kitchen .. this was an art offset purchase for me with money I’d earned from a corporate gig that made me profoundly sad and I needed to feel there was joy in the art universe again .. very happy to say this was the result .. nice one Luke x taken in Archway, London by @oldvalvemic

Few days on the south coast reading tales of ocean crossings, listening to various harbour transmissions for company and making sure I know where south is. Sunrises and sunsets. by @oldvalvemic

Sublime to the ridiculous .. big bucks to the cheep and very cheerful approach. The excellent little Snowsky Echo mini for 60 quid and the fantastic Koss KPH40s with Yaxi EarPods .. great combo for that walk about town/over the hills. Great to listen to music on a device that doesn’t distract you.No streaming joy by @oldvalvemic

New grills from @arcticcables in the US and a new balanced cable from @cosmiccables_ complete the radical pimping of my old Hifiman HE500s. Being able to drive these with a balanced amp has made all the difference. Still one of the nicest pairs of headphones I’ve ever owned and despite being a bit of a Theseus Boat the planar drivers are the key to it all. #lostinmusic thanks to @eliseaudiouk for the advise taken in Archway, London by @oldvalvemic

Some shots of Galloway in the Lowlands of Scotland .. no tourists .. no trains planes or 36 degrees C heat .. great to get away from it all with some hill walking and sea and stone circles. taken in Balcary Bay Country House Hotel, Auchencairn by @oldvalvemic

A stop off at Scotland’s town of books Wigtown has yielded some satisfying results .. I’ve been looking to read some Dennis Wheatley books for a while now inspired by “The Devil rides out” and “To the devil a daughter “.. some espionage and occult .. Raiders of the lost ark kinda stuff with Hammer/Amicus films overtones.. and bingo found these as part of a large stash … I think I might have to go back and get some more .. the covers alone are worth the outlay taken in Wigtown - Scotland's National Book Town by @oldvalvemic

Pre eclipse tension … will the wicked clouds of the west part to provide our cannily created eclipse pinhole (made with wine box natch) with the finest view .. 45 mins and counting down .. still could be worse .. sitting in a bench with a pint of finest ale with wifey on holiday in Galloway .. good luck eclipse hunting everybody .. it’s the last one I will see in my lifetime .. now there’s a thought taken in The Crown Hotel, Portpatrick by @oldvalvemic

I’ll say goodbye to William Orbit .. I saw him do a show at the QEH many years ago for his strange Cargo 3 album .. ran on ringing a bicycle bell .. and my bro and I marvelled at Water from a vine leaf and the glorious Harry Flowers from Performance one psychedelic night in front of my old Mission speakers .. his Blur album with particularly a track called Caramel was a touch stone in my burgeoning relationship with my wifey.. and Madonna’s Ray of Light is something of a work of genius .. song writing meets production meets pop sublime.. thanks William .. you did good and left something behind that is joyous .. nice one by @oldvalvemic
