As the best women amateurs in the world compete this week at The Honors Course in Tennessee, we're looking back to another unforgettable chapter in Old Waverly history.

In 2019, Old Waverly proudly hosted the U.S. Women's Amateur, where Australia's @gabiruffels captured the championship with a thrilling 1-up victory over Albane Valenzuela to become the first Australian ever to win the title.

It was a remarkable week that showcased incredible competition, southern hospitality, and a course built to test the very best.

"Scale, position, composition, and movement are all keys to great bunkering. When they come together you get a sand symphony that catches your eye, inspires emotion, and, most importantly, feels in harmony with the landscape.”

— Gil Hanse (Architect, Mossy Oak)

Skies worth chasing.

Old Waverly is a dramatic setting on any given day, but especially so when framed by incredible cloud formations overhead. Mississippi’s humid subtropical climate is known for breeding ominous storm clouds and producing spectacular atmospheric optical phenomena.

Fortunately, there's plenty of sun to go around, too. by @oldwaverly

Wishing the best of luck to Old Waverly Member @a_mc10 this week at the @uswomensopen at @therivieracountryclub .

The former @lpga_tour Professional is making her first tournament start since November 2024 this week and looks to recapture the momentum that led her to a T-3 finish in her last U.S. Women's Open appearance that same season.

Old Waverly’s own Mississippi State Men’s Golf Team booked their ticket to the NCAA Division I Championship last week with a 5th place finish at the Wake Forest — Bermuda Run Regional Tournament.

Keep an eye out for the team on TV this week as they take on the nation’s best at California’s Omni La Costa Resort & Spa. #HailState by @oldwaverly
