The Collegiate Recovery Community was honored to present the inaugural Recovery Champion Service Award to Missy “Mama Justice” Wigginton on September 24 at the UM Law School. Missy was recognized for her dedicated work in supporting and advocating for persons in recovery. This award honors an alumnus or alumna whose meaningful contributions and service inspire hope and cultivate change.

In the words of her nominator – “Missy is one of the most recognized figures in Mississippi because of her incredible business. Yet, on any given day or hour, you can find her in a recovery space holding the hand of someone who is struggling. In these moments, you see Missy in her true purpose, confidently telling a newcomer of their worth, potential and value. Missy’s service work in recovery is one of Mississippi’s greatest assets.”

Missy’s commitment to service reflects the Collegiate Recovery Community’s mission to provide resources and support for students in or seeking recovery from alcohol or other drugs.

This event was hosted in partnership with @umlaw1854 and as a part of National Recovery Month.
