Our clothes hold more power than we think. Fast fashion brands that we all know like SHEIN, Fashion Nova, and PrettyLittleThing pump out low-quality fits, that fall apart fast. And let’s be honest—some of y’all don’t wear those looks again once they hit the gram lol. Then they get tossed and end up flooding our landfills. Over 85% of textiles in the U.S. end up as waste every year.

With everything going on in the economy—rising costs, tariffs, and tighter budgets—it’s more important than ever to shop smart and get creative. Upcycling and donating what we already have isn’t just about saving money, it’s about choosing to protect her—our Mother Earth. 🌍🌱♻️

OlepaMade has always been about that—sustainability, creativity, and real style that lasts. I’m excited to finally be more active, more intentional, & to share what this movement really looks like in 2025. ttyl 🫶🏾♻️✨

so a lot of girls do not believe my locs were “real” but this was indeed allll my hair and when I tell you they were heavyyyy, they were heavy asf mentally & physically. I decided to loc my hair after having a 6 month still born in 2014 , his name was Aziz & I feel like I’m the only one who really knew him. Him being my first pregnancy & then having a still born was not expected AT ALL, mind you I was 19 and I didn’t even know wtf a still born was or that it could even happen. I got my locs for Aziz , because i envisioned his life and me locing his hair so they were in honor of him. After 10 years of having locs I started cosmo school in 2023 and I slowly started combing them out , I didn’t do it all at once but I did notice that every loc that I did comb out forced old memories to start popping up , energy was being released through my hair, trauma , unspoken experiences that I was harboring that I assumed I could burry away. It was a very surreal experience. When things would get over whelming I’d stop combing them out and it would be a mixture of my curly hair & the locs and I stopped doing re-twists so it was a lot of new growth as well & also I was tender headed asf ! Like it hurt combing my hair out lol anyways all that to say I officially combed all my locs out and it feels amazing! Like a real weight being lifted off my back! The only problem is now I have to actually do my hair everyday , which is NOT mom life friendly. Ngl it was definitely bitter sweet & emotional but it was somthing that just had to be done. Closing a chapter of my life to come a new :) by @olepamade
