OMG my first ever award as a Director of Photography! 🎥😁 . I had no idea this was going to happen. I had finished my studies last year and was just coming along to watch the Student Graduate Films of 2025-2026 so this was a super nice surprise. . I was so fortunate to be a Director of Photography on 4 films while studying for the Diploma in Screen & Media at @randwickfilm . Thank you to my Directors for choosing me as your Cinematographer, I’m so grateful. The films I DP’d were: ‘A Knight in Shining Hi-Vis’ (Director @clairebockingindustries ), ‘The Adult Section’ (Director @clairebockingindustries ), Girly Pop (Director @beata_e1izabeth ) and ‘In the Dark Times’ (CoDP with @miguel1zac , Director @untitledfolder_33 ). . I could not have picked a better @tafensw campus or a better group of people to do this with, I believe the stars truly aligned for us all to meet for these amazing collaborations! . A big thank you to all the cast, crew and teachers that tirelessly worked on every project from start to finish. Special mention to my Cinematography teachers @dophoward and @stevearnoldacs for sharing their knowledge with me. @richardwilmotproductions for connecting me with the industry. Special shoutout to @dominojordan from @arriaustralia for always being there to answer any of my technical questions about the two beautiful Arri Alexa LF Mini’s that we shot all these films on. Thank you also to the @ritz_cinema for hosting the event, @randwickcouncil and sponsors @adobe @apdguild @canonanzpro @rodemic for helping to make this night a success. Cinematography Practise 🎥 This was fun! I sat in my woman cave for a whole afternoon and evening to create these five shots. Learnt a lot. No one to bounce ideas off, no one to ask questions to, just me by myself fully locked in. Working alone is not my idea of fun but I have to say there was something cathartic about this solo expedition. For those interested about the technicalities, it was all lit on location. I didn’t do any post colour grading at all except for a tiny adjustment to the highlight colour of the first shot and a small increase in overall exposure of the second. Otherwise it was just a straight log to rec.709 conversion on all the shots, no other adjustments at all. I’m pretty happy with the outcome overall. The task pushed me to think about storytelling in simple short frames, composition, light and creating contrast in a frame without relying on post processing. It wasn’t an easy doing this in a very small room with white walls but I think it turned out ok. What do you think? Feedback and any tips for future videos always welcome, keen to learn and improve. Shoot out to @aputure.lighting @amarancreators for making great lights! I’ve converted my whole kit completely over to them now so you’ll be seeing more videos with their lights being used. The camera used was the Sony A7V with the Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II lens And yes, that is a soft launch on a new camera I have and a brand switch! Day 1/5 of filming the ‘Guardian’ short film. . After a couple of months of video calls and in person meetups in pre-production we are finally in on-set mode for the ‘Guardian’ short film which I’m a Director of Photography on 🎥 . We are working with a really small cast and crew but are determined to make this film happen despite any obstacles. I’m super happy to say that we managed to get some really nice frames throughout the day and witnessed some great performances from our actors. Great job everyone, looking forward to the next few shoot days. . Yesterday I was finally lucky enough to get to work with Director @hu.go.kent on his upcoming short film ‘New Friend Isn’t Quite The Old Friend’ as a Background Actor 🎭 . What a nice evening it turned out to be! An Extras role that I picked up last minute and amongst the busy chaos of life, ended up in me having a small unexpected featured part in the film which was deeply meaningful to me and felt fated. I am so grateful for the experience. Big thanks to Producer @bourke_ethan for bringing me onboard. I love being a part of things like this where for a few hours the crazy world around you just stops and everything feels like it is meant to be 💫 . Behind the scene of @boywiththelionshead (outsider’s perspective😆) + me showing off @8.52newtown as part of this cool film hahaha. When they first asked me, their first Instagram video sold me already, Wong Kar Wai Style, Chinese, lion dance, lots of red, retro vibe… I think they will become something big! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 It was so fun to be there to witness how film production works!!! My friend suggested me to ask if they needed extra (as in background actor) and Leo said yes to me haha so ya I got myself something to do on the set. The Barossa Valley in @southaustralia 🌳🌼 . The wild tones of South Australia! Yes the colours really are like this, it’s surreal! 🎨 . I’ve been wanting to see the Barossa Valley for years and finally I managed to line up a drive out there while on a trip to Adelaide to cover the @au4_championship event. We didn’t get the best weather on the day that we were there but I still got to capture these images for the photo books. Shout-out to my son for helping me take that selfie! . The landscape is absolutely stunning out there and I think we were quite lucky to get to see these amazing yellow flowers blooming. I think these were the Canola plant if I’m not mistaken. They cover the landscape and look absolutely incredible. . We only had a few hours to look around the valley but tried to make the most of our time by visiting a couple of places. . We started with breakfast at the @noshtanunda and then visited @maggiebeerfarmshop and finished off with a trip to the @barossavalleychocolatecompany before flying back home the same day! . The @noshtanunda is a unique little place tucked inside an old flour mill and is full of character and vintage charm. The food was delicious and gave us a great start for a busy day. . @maggie_beer ‘s Farm Shop was really nice - rustic charm, local produce, a picturesque setting, I’ll be returning when I’m next in this area. . The @barossavalleychocolatecompany is a must see for chocolate lovers, lots of things on offer to buy at the shop and a big window in the store so you can see the chocolate factory in operation, super cool! 🍫 . I’d recommend all three places if you are ever in the area. I’m hoping to revisit them all and do a vlog when I’m next there as unfortunately I was very short on time on this trip. Jamie-Lee Su | Australian Female Race Car Driver 🏁 . A little collection of memories from last weekend’s action packed @au4_championship meet at @thebendmotorsportpark , featuring female race car driver @jamielee_su 🏁 . There’s something special about photographing women who dare to enter spaces where they’re still the minority. . Motorsport has traditionally been a male dominated world, so every woman I see lining up on the grid feels like a little shift in the story. .
