Mathildenhöhe yesterday

A brillant day in Darmstadt, visiting the Mathildenhöhe. The Künstler-Kolonie - a center of German Jugendstil - celebrates 125th birthday. People enjoyed a market of local artists, cool drinks and the best pizza in the sunshine, discovering the neighbourhood or just hanging out on in the most beautiful environment. I love the all the artful details of Jugendstil, each house is a jewel. Actually I found the place more inspiring than the WDC exhibition. And we also liked Darmstadt.

The Twilight Sad/ Cologne

Last weekend we've been to Cologne to see The Twilight Sad. Very unique Scottish band, playing sad music with an intense sound, special songwriting and a gifted singer. Maybe the 5. time that we've seen them (the header picture was taken in 2018 at Schlachthof/ Wiesbaden). And again, the music got me, Gebäude 9 was a great venue. And Cologne is a pretty cool place on a sunny day.

yeah, Berlin

Random shots of the recent MdB trip to Berlin. It was inspiring; I learned insights about political work, about history, Berlin and I met interesting people, mainly strong women. 💪 I also enjoyed early morning runs at the Spree and amazing vegan Vietnamese food in Schöneberg. Thanks a lot to Die Grünen Offenbach for enabling this and great organization!

Stasi Jail in Berlin
Gedenkstätte Berlin Hohenschönhausen

Visiting Berlin on a political city trip we have been to a Stasi jail. Beside of interesting shots from a creepy movie-like socialistic scenery it was horrifying. It's unimaginable what tortures imprisoned people must have experienced here. When he was already in the west as a refugee who had escaped from the DDR my father had lived in fear for decades that he might get caught by Stasi secret agents one day. It didn't happen, they never came. The wall came down.
Now I had a very small glimpse of his horror.
