Tucked away in the winding streets of Venice, Libreria Acqua Alta is no ordinary bookshop 🤎

Opened by Luigi Frizzo in 2002 @libreriaacquaalta , this quirky literary treasure was created with the spirit of Venice in mind — a city where high tides are part of everyday life. And so, instead of relying only on ordinary bookshelves, books are tucked into gondolas, boats, and bathtubs to help protect them from the acqua alta! 🛶📖

Inside, you'll find towering piles of old books, a staircase made from volumes destined for recycling, and even a door that opens directly onto a canal. Every corner feels like a little adventure waiting to happen ✨

And of course, there are the cats! 🐈 The bookshop's feline residents wander between the shelves and curl up among the books, making this already magical place feel even more special.

As a book lover, I couldn't resist visiting. Because sometimes, the most memorable places aren't just somewhere you go — they're somewhere you wish you could stay a little longer 📚🤍

📚💕 Book review | The Mother-in-Law Book Club by Kate Hash 5/5 ⭐

When Andi overhears a group of women complaining about their daughters-in-law on a plane, she never expects it to lead to an invitation to their book club — or to friendships she desperately need ☕📖

I love, love, LOVE stories about unexpected friendships, and this one was such a delight! The book club ladies stole my heart, and I honestly wanted to join them at Marilyn’s house for every single party! 🥂📚💗 The gatherings, the conversations, all the different personalities… I loved it!

Andi’s character development was so satisfying to watch, and her relationship with Dustin? OH 🥹❤️ I loved their connection and the way they communicated like actual adults!

A heartwarming story about friendship, personal growth, and finding your people when you least expect it 🫶✨

מה אם אחרי המוות הייתם מקבלים הזדמנות לחיות מחדש רק זיכרון אחד יקר מהחיים שלכם? ✨

במרכז הסיפור נמצא מר הירסאקה, שמנהל סטודיו קסום לצילום, אליו מגיעים אנשים לאחר מותם. שם הם יכולים להביט לאחור על חייהם ולבחור רגע אחד יקר שאותו יחוו שוב לפני שימשיכו הלאה.

הסיפור עוקב אחר שלושה אנשים שונים מאוד זה מזה — אישה מבוגרת, גבר בגיל העמידה שנושא איתו עבר מורכב, וילד צעיר ותמים 🥹

מה שהכי אהבתי היה האופן שבו הסיפורים שלהם מתחברים בהדרגה, ומראים כיצד גם הבחירות הקטנות ביותר שלנו יכולות להשפיע על חייהם של אחרים בדרכים שאנחנו אפילו לא מודעים אליהן 💭❤️

הסיום היה מריר-מתוק במיוחד, כשהחלקים השונים של הסיפור סוף סוף התחברו 🥲

זהו סיפור קצר, עדין ונוסטלגי, שגרם לי לעצור ולהעריך מחדש את הרגעים הקטנים שאנחנו נוטים לקחת כמובן מאליו 🌸✨

Book review | Twice by Mitch Albom 5/5 ⭐

Wow! I started "Twice" on my flight to Italy and finished it on the flight back. ✈️🇮🇹📖 And honestly, I didn’t want to put it down!

The story begins with Alfred “Alfie” Logan being questioned by an officer in Nassau, Bahamas, after being accused of cheating at a roulette table and winning millions. From there, we dive into Alfie’s notebooks and the story of how he ended up in that room.

After losing his mother as a child, Alfie discovers that he inherited a very unusual gift from her: the ability to go back and change one moment in his life. But once he changes it, he has to live with the new version of events forever.

Because of this, Alfie carefully records his days, conversations, and decisions in notebooks, trying to keep track of the life he has already lived — and the moments he has changed ✍🏼

I loved how this simple idea turned into such a thought-provoking story about choices, regret, second chances, and love ❤️ Sometimes getting a second chance isn’t as simple as it sounds…

The part that stayed with me most was the idea that you can change almost anything, but you can’t always get a second chance at love 💔

Emotional, clever, and completely engrossing. I really adored this one! ✨

🇮🇹📚 Italy Book Haul

A little piece of Italy came home with me 🇮🇹❤️📚

I may not have fallen completely in love with Venice, but Northern Italy stole my heart — the mountains, the lakes, the forests, the little villages… and, naturally, the books 🍂🏔️🍄‍🟫

My Italy haul includes:

📖 Alice in Wonderland — two absolutely gorgeous Benjamin Lacombe editions
🖤 A Midnight Treasury of Frightening Words
🗺️ The Writer’s Map
🌿 Le Erbe Nostre Amiche — a beautiful 1976 edition I found in a free library in Calliano
🌹 Il Principe Picenin — The Little Prince in Venetian dialect
🏔️ Lago di Braies postcard
📚 A bookmark from Libreria Acqua Alta
💎 Murano glass
☕️ And, of course, a very cute Peanuts × Starbucks mug because apparently I needed a coffee souvenir too 😂

Some things were bought, some were found, and some simply felt impossible to leave behind ❤️

Italy, you were beautiful — but those Dolomites… I think I left a little piece of my heart there 🏔️🍂📖

Book review | Daughters of the Wreckage by Stefanie Koens 4/5 ⭐

When Tess’s father dies, she discovers an unfinished article about the Batavia shipwreck of 1629 - sending her on a journey to uncover what really happened ⚓️📖

This was definitely a slow burn for me, but once I reached the middle, I couldn’t put it down!🔥

The 1629 storyline was by far my favourite. The survivors faced absolutely horrific circumstances after a violent mutiny — murder, the taking of wives and mistresses, and a desperate fight for survival. Some parts were genuinely harrowing 😳

The present-day storyline was a little less exciting for me, but I still enjoyed the mystery and archaeological investigation🏺🔎

Most importantly, this book taught me about a shipwreck I had never even heard of before — and now I definitely want to learn more about the Batavia 🇦🇺⚓️
