The most wonderful time of the year indeed! Christmas with family is my favorite kind of Christmas! I actually have no other choice! I’m gonna come out and say it: tired of being judged for NOT COOKING. This week I said to myself, “Hey, I’m gonna cook a superfood quinoa salad.” So I went to @traderjoes with a LIST of INGREDIENTS and after searching for garlic for 20 minutes, I wanted to end my life. I succumbed to pre-peeled garlic in the refrigerated section and went on my merry fuckin way. I went home and MADE the thing. Cooked the quinoa. Chopped the shit. Let it sit in the icebox for 30. Tasted ALRIGHT. Then comes the clean up and it’s like what could possibly be worth all of THIS?? I have no counter space, no dishwasher , ?? The next morning I broke two glasses bc I DON’T HAVE COUNTER SPACE. Glass everywhere and for what? For WHAT? Family is my everything. Family is the family we don’t choose, but it’s still family. A lot of people don’t realize that when you’re an only child, the family group text is only three people. It’s small. It’s intimate. It’s three f****** people. But it’s family. Is it a “group text”? Not necessarily. Are more than 2 people a “group”? Are more than two people a “family”? Sometimes it’s difficult to say, but I’m here to defend three-person “families” everywhere. Hell, even two! Family is family and that’s what matters. The other day I was vulnerable on here and shared the consequences of my sober journey. Today I am offering insight into the origin of my story so that I can help others get their feet off the ground when leaving the crutch of alcohol behind (no pun intended!!). Not drinking for three whole weeks taught me a lot about who I am as a person and more important, a drinker. I’m a lifelong drinker and although people are often shocked to learn I didn’t drink in high school, they quickly realize that I’m one of the real ones. I spent years catching up to my peers and look where I am now. I’m so lucky to have the support from those I love (shoutout MOM and DAD) because I’d never be a Real One without you guys. Peace and love and remember that drinking responsibly is OK and healthy for the mind body & soul despite what the kids are doing these days (making mocktails with probiotic sodas). #comedy #comedyvideo #funny by @olivdislife

On June 3, 2025 I stopped drinking to feel better about my health, my sanity, my self. They say that drinking really messes you up. You start to rely on a substance to get you through one social interaction. Even my friend said, “Olivia, alcohol is your crutch.” Crutch?? That really got me thinking. Alcohol and crutches. Like I’m just some poor ski head who tore her ACL and I need to rely on metal to get me off my feet, never to hit the slopes again. I can’t live the rest of my life on crutches. How could I??? So I took a deep, long look into my own eyes in the mirror and said, “Enough is enough. MAKE IT STOP.” So I stopped. I stopped of my own accord. Three weeks later, on June 27th, I resumed drinking. I was on a flight to Atlanta and we had to deplane a nervous flyer which took 45 minutes to one hour. It was hell. I had a drink. Now? I’m still drinking and probably will never stop again. EVERYTHING IS CONTENT. CONTENT IS KING. by @olivdislife
