Die Erfahrung des Echten.

Was ist eigentlich echt?

Im Rahmen unserer Eventreihe durften wir einen Abend gestalten, der genau dieser Frage nachging – entlang von drei Leitmotiven: Materialität, Beziehung und Haltung.

Gemeinsam mit Philipp Hoflehner, Markus Riedel und Oliver Jahn entstand ein Gespräch über das Handgemachte, das Nicht-Skalierbare und die bewusste Entscheidung für Qualität – auch dort, wo sie mehr Zeit und Sorgfalt verlangt.

Das Echte zeigt sich nicht in Lautstärke oder Inszenierung, sondern in Haltung, Präzision und dem Weg dorthin.

Was kann kein Algorithmus ersetzen?
Wann wird aus einer Dienstleistung eine echte Erfahrung?
Und was macht Persönlichkeit und Herkunft heute unkopierbar?

Ein Abend voller Substanz, Austausch und Perspektiven.

The Experience of the Real
What does real actually mean?

As part of our event series, we hosted an evening dedicated to this very question – shaped by three guiding themes: materiality, relationship, and attitude.

Together with Philipp Hoflehner, Markus Riedel, and Oliver Jahn, the conversation explored craftsmanship, the non-scalable, and the conscious choice to pursue quality – even where it demands more time and care.

The real is not defined by volume or staging, but by attitude, precision, and the integrity of the process.

What can no algorithm replace?
When does a service become a true experience?
And what makes personality and origin truly inimitable today?

An evening of substance, exchange, and perspective.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this special moment. And to Kussmann Sacher, Architectural Communication for the concept and design.

Design, craft and agency take centre stage in the podcast conversation hosted by Shalini Misra, with Professor Daniel Charny MBE, Designer and educator, co-founder of Forth, and Oliver Jahn, CEO & CCO of House of Manus. Moving beyond objects and outcomes, the conversation turns to craft, participation and lived knowledge – reflecting on how creative thinking remains deeply human, whether shaped in villages or global cities.

From the role of craft incubators to the power of sensory awareness, the discussion reflects on making a way to reclaim agency in an increasingly abstract world. These ideas sit closely with the ethos of the Shakti Design Residency, which brings global designers into sustained collaboration with Indian master artisans – foregrounding exchange, process and co-authorship. What emerges is a shared belief in craft as an active force, one that connects people, place and practice, and offers hope through the act of doing.

Of course you know the sheep. Maybe the fish or the rhino bar. But there’s so much more to discover from the universe of Claude and François-Xavier Lalanne.
You absolutely have to go to Palazzo Rota Ivancich in Venice to see „Planète Lalanne“, one of the largest exhibitions by the artists, and the first to take place in Italy, put together by @benbrownfinearts . A cosmos of it‘s own populated by mythological creatures, fauna, and flora that inhabit the Lalanne world and explore the blurred intersection between decorative and fine arts. A walking piece of cabbage? An apple with a mouth? Go and see. by @oliverjahn

To put it in simple words: @homofaber 2024 in Venice is the most beautiful, joyful and moving show about the magic of craftsmanship that I ever saw. Congrats dear @alberto.vanderbilt.cavalli and @lucaguadagninoarchive ! Your work is beyond. @fondazionegcini amazing what you accomplished. Make rugs, not war. Yesterday night @jankathofficial opened his new Rug + Art Space in Kathmandu. It’s a vibrant and inspirational place where you can learn about, see, touch and feel the outstanding arts and crafts of Nepalese rug making. Come and see! I followed Jan’s work for almost two decades now, how it has been growing chapter by chapter, now culminating in such a subtle, refined and relaxed place that for sure will become a new landmark in the capital of Nepal.
