In June of 2020, I was baptized in this very church. I didn’t know what it meant, I went through the motions, and did it because “it felt like the right thing to do”. I never would’ve known that 3 years later God would completely test my faith altogether. For those next almost 4 years I suffered with severe depression and anxiety. Getting as much help as I could with: therapists, doctors, physiatrists, and medications. But I never could seem to understand why all this was happening to me. I always said “it’s only up from here”, but I just kept sinking and sinking til I hit absolute rock bottom. My family started searching for inpatient facilities and more intensive care, and at this time my parents would go to bed in fear every single night. I started doing things I swore I would never do, and in this month I had lost my faith completely. I would say to God, “why me”. “I shouldn’t want to not live in a life where you’re supposed to be my savior, and you won’t save me.”

This was all until about 4 months ago, when I woke up one day and something inside me had shifted. My days started getting easier, and I’d wake up wanting to live on to the next day. Day by day I noticed so much change. I was more full of life, and my pursuit for God was the greatest it had ever been. He completely saved my life. And I know that the little girl from 6 years ago would have never known that she would be back in this water as a completely different person.
