One year in LA

I remember the day I started to see the great Texas oaks vanish into cacti and then palm trees. My heart sank, wondering if I was making a grave mistake moving away from everything I ever knew.

Looking back on the person who took their first steps in the Pacific Ocean on the night of their arrival, I have come so far.

In my first year in LA I have made so many wonderful friends, been so many breath taking places, and been involved with so many incredible projects. Not to mention, finding my home at The Hollywood Improv.

I can’t wait for another year of adventures. I have just scratched the surface of what LA has to offer. Thank you to the Golden State.

🎬 Intern Alumni Spotlight 🎧 Meet @olivia_carter7, an aspiring SFX Editor for Film & TV and recent graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. Liv is passionate about creatively integrating sound in post-production to elevate storytelling and bring narratives to life.

Before making the move to LA, Liv gained hands-on experience interning at post-sound facilities in Austin, including @ChezBoomAudio and Optical.Audio. When they’re not crafting soundscapes, you can find them collecting VHS tapes, enjoying Japanese food, or crocheting. 🧶

Liv is grateful to have found WAM and is proud to be part of the movement bringing women and gender-expansive people to the forefront of audio. We can’t wait to see (and hear!) what’s next. 💛🎚️
