RAISING LANDSCAPE

Performance. 10 min. 2025

Dancers are transported by helpers on forklifts and pallets into the exhibition space and covered with black plastic foil. The square-shaped tarpaulin is gradually extended by the helpers. Beneath the plastic, the dancers slowly rise to an upright position. As they turn, the plastic becomes tangled around their bodies.
Weights embedded in the foil anchor its corners to the ground, shaping the dynamics of the emerging forms and movements. After a brief exploration within the tangled material, the performers slowly crouch back down, returning to the initial position. The dancers are then transported out of the exhibition space.
Hidden microphones embedded in the foil allow the audience to hear the live crackling of the plastic.
Raising Landscape was conceived and performed for the Future Nows 2025 exhibition at the Neue Nationalgalerie, Berlin.
