Our home is so empty without you 💔🪽

On Monday, our sweet Ares passed away peacefully at home. She had just turned 7 years old in July.

Ares was the first cat @vfiverson ever adopted off of the streets of Panama before quickly rescuing two more.

In 2024, I helped my sister move all three cats back home to Minneapolis and eventually into a house with me. The last 2.5 years living with and helping care for all of them has been nothing less than a gift.

Ares was so fucking cool. She’s our sassy, chirpy, quirky and pretty girl. She was even born with a broken tail (which is likely the reason she ran in a weird crooked gallop 😂)

Ares absolutely loved drinking water out of the bathroom sink. If she wasn’t already at the sink when you got home, she’d be there in a matter of seconds. Even in her final moments, she surprised us by making a quick trip to the sink (and proceeded to soak half of her face in the process 😅).

I’ve spent the last few days looking back at the (over 1.5k) photos and videos we have of her. Every last one reminded me of the immeasurable joy Ares brought into my life.

We found out in late June that Ares was sick and spent every day since doing what we could to provide the care and comfort she deserves.

The anticipatory grief we experienced over the last three months has been so unbelievably painful. But knowing our time together was limited allowed us to be present and thoughtful about how we wanted to spend it.

To our sunshine girl: I know Oli and Milou already miss you so much. I do too. I’ll spend forever missing you. Rest easy 💕 by @oliviaiversontv

I don’t do vivids often, but when I do… we go ALL in 💜✨

This was such a fun change of pace and a reminder that creativity has no limits.

Images of a city under federal occupation 📷

Tried out cyanotyping (for the first time) to create my third Coachella outfit with pictures taken during Operation Metro Surge. These images show the terror, fear and chaos Minnesota lived in for over 2 months. At the same time, they show the courage of my city standing up for our immigrant neighbors.

I will not stand for lawless agents spending billions of our tax dollars ripping apart and detaining families that add so much to our communities.

These are their names. They should still be here.

Over the last month I handmade this top with the names of those killed by ICE and border patrol along with those who have died in ICE detention centers.

I refuse to life in a world where we so quickly forget their unjust deaths. They’re real people who did not deserve the fate our government served them.
