Festival Announcement:

DESERT PROSTITUTE has officially been selected for the First Susquehanna LGBTQ Film Festival, presented by Pride Festival of Central PA! 🏳️‍🌈🎬

The film will screen at Midtown Cinema in Harrisburg as part of two different programs:

🎞️ September 11 at 7 PM — NEW HORIZONS
The cutting edge of independent LGBTQ cinema.

🎞️ September 13 at 12 PM — LOCAL VOICES
Heartfelt films from your friends and neighbors.

I’ll also be there on September 13 to introduce the film, which makes this one especially meaningful to me.

After making this film in the surreal landscape of Eureka Dunes, Nevada, I’m so excited to finally bring Desert Prostitute back to my hometown and share it with the community that has supported my work.

I’m incredibly grateful to be part of such a vibrant and supportive queer arts scene here in Harrisburg. 💗

Come see this desert fever dream on the big screen. ✨

⭐️Studio 323 Zine Club is here! ⭐️

Studio 323 is an ongoing document of my artistic practice made from my studio at the The Millworks in Harrisburg, PA . It is part journal, part archive, and part experiment, it collects works in progress, upcoming projects, and my reimagined archives from past films. It is filled with friends, drag, LAMBO, mixed media, video art stills, and sketches that might never make it onto a social media platform.

INSIDE THE ZINE:

⭐️each Zine is hand embellished with acrylic paint markers
⭐️high quality cardstocks and inks
⭐️mystery tarot card and description with every issue
⭐️hand addressed from my studio at the Millworks
⭐️folds out into a poster of movies and events
⭐️original collectible from Olivia Jean

For my new Skin & Shadow series, I reinterpreted one of Marilyn Monroe’s most iconic nude photographs through charcoal — and that drawing is now part of this month’s zine club edition. ♡

Only 3 days left to join the club and receive the Skin & Shadow edition, plus a handmade tarot card with every zine.

Studio 323 Volume 2 ships August 20th.

I never got to further explore this peice I love. I often feel pulled in many directions because I love working in many mediums. This new series combines my love for collage, figurative work, and being hands on with box cutters, blades and spray paint. I am testing myself to stick it out with one way of working to explore and expand the idea by nesting on it and nurturing it. My first opportunity to be in a two person show has inspired this discipline. So I am making 15-20 stencils that I will use in many different ways to make this new body of work. I’m excited and might even buy a new journal to document.(as my half written journals weep). I want to really walk my audience through the inner workings of my thought process, how I arrived at a thought and how I physically executed it. I recently learned Instagram doesn’t like for a creator to make many forms of content because it messes with the algorithm. This puts so much pressure what do I pick, what is my art identity, existential things. So this is also a test for that- which I will also share! So thank you to all that read this and for my new followers. There is exciting stuff in the future! #artistsoninstagram #artstudio #thoughts #art #vlog #inspiration #artinspiration by @oliviajeanart
