Great morning spent with @kennynguyenclt for a feature in this month’s issue of @queencitymag. My favorites shoots are the ones with no crew, just me, a camera, simple and intimate portraits with an artist chatting about craft. This is why I enjoy editorial assignments. Here’s to another 250 glorious and prosperous years. My parent’s neighborhood has a fireworks show the night before San Francisco’s official 4th of July show. It’s been a Richmond, CA tradition for 20 years. For the last 10 years I have always missed it due to being in North Carolina. Glad I was able to catch it this time! This is really one of those moments where the pictures were speaking thousands of words. Supper in the STUdio was quite a bash! From The Roaring 7’s filling the air with funky jazz tunes all night, @syd_farris hitting a home run with her decadent floral arrangements, and @seasonedprovisions food was knock down fantastic. Shot for @southparkmagazine’s May cover. This shoot was last minute and the cover was completely accidental. We didn’t plan for a dog or the cheetah rug. There was a random dog at the store and I was like, gimme that dog, I’m commandeering that dog!! because who doesn’t love dogs. And Whitley saw the carpet and said we need to break up all that gray with a rug. She went and found a rug. Teamwork boom! This time last year we shot the golf issue of South Park magazine, but we made it kind of unconventional as always and not really about the pro tour coming to CLT because cmon bro, that is how @thequeencitystyle and I roll. It was super fun and always a good time. Shot on a Nikon Z8 adapted w/ Canon EF lenses that I refuse to get rid of. What a year it’s already been. We are joyfully counting down to the launch of Volume 15 on May 13th, a milestone that feels especially meaningful as we celebrate nearly eight years as co-editors.

We are endlessly grateful for the heart, creativity, and passion found within the Charlotte community. The businesses, the people, and the stories continue to grow and inspire us in ways far beyond what we ever imagined.

On this holiday weekend, we’d love to leave you with a favorite reminder from Theodore Roosevelt:
