This handsome guy is a Waterbuck — one of the most impressive antelopes of the African wilderness🦌✨ His most striking feature is, of course, those powerful, beautifully ridged horns, which belong only to males and can grow to almost a metre in length.

Waterbucks are usually found near rivers, lakes and wetlands, and they are surprisingly strong swimmers. When danger appears, they can head straight into the water to escape predators. Their diet consists mainly of grass, making them an important part of the savanna ecosystem🌿

Calm, powerful, and effortlessly graceful — this beauty looks as if the wilderness itself created him for these endless landscapes. A true embodiment of the strength and majesty of Africa🌍

One of those unforgettable moments in Kruger🥹

We came across a whole pack of African wild dogs, and although they stayed with us for only about three minutes, it felt like a little glimpse into their wild world. They were moving together, heading out for a hunt, completely focused on their surroundings.

I also noticed that some of the females were wearing tracking collars. These collars help researchers follow their movements and monitor the population, which is especially important because African wild dogs are such a rare and threatened species.

And then came the funniest part, some of them were rolling around in elephant dung😅 Apparently, wild dogs are sometimes observed doing this, although the exact reason isn’t completely understood. One theory is that it could help mask their scent while hunting, but this hasn’t been scientifically confirmed.

Three minutes, a whole pack, and a memory I’ll never forget. What an incredible encounter with one of Africa’s most fascinating animals🐕🤎

What an incredible experience watching this beautiful cheetah family in the wild🥹

While the little cubs were busy playing, exploring, and enjoying their carefree moments, their mother remained close by, keeping a watchful eye on everything around them. She constantly scanned the surroundings, making sure there was nothing nearby that could threaten her babies🐆
You could truly feel her protective instinct, always alert and attentive, while still allowing her little ones the freedom to play, explore, and enjoy their childhood☺️

A truly unforgettable moment of love, care, and wild family life✨

Kruger's big birds — the ones I was lucky enough to catch on camera📸

It was only afterwards, reading about them, that I realised how lucky some of these frames were🥹

The Saddle-billed Stork: the whole park holds maybe 25–30 breeding pairs. Rarer than cheetah, and nobody talks about it.

The Martial Eagle: around 100 pairs left in Kruger, and their numbers are falling. Mine is a juvenile — it takes years to grow into the dark, spotted plumage of an adult.

The Ground Hornbill: its deep booming call carries for kilometres and honestly sounds like a lion.

The Kori Bustard: one of the heaviest flying birds in the world, and it would still rather walk than fly.

The Bateleur on the cover looks like an ordinary eagle of the bush. It isn't — outside protected areas it has almost vanished, and fewer than a thousand adults are left in the region. Kruger is one of the last places where seeing one still feels normal.

And the vultures — the ones everyone drives past on the way to something more exciting. Without them the bush would not clean itself.

Swipe through😉 Which one would you most want to see?

Bushbucks are notoriously shy and usually vanish into the thickets before you even lift the camera🌿

But this evening was pure magic✨️
One second she was just peeking through the dry branches, bathed in the softest golden light, and the next, she stepped right onto the road to take a quiet look at us.

Getting to pause with this gentle soul out in the open, with those big velvety ears and calm Bambi eyes, felt like a rare gift from the wild🥹

If not friend, why friend shaped?🥹

Spotted this little guy tucked away high up in the branches, looking like the softest little spotted puff☺️ For now, he’s mostly just oversized paws, huge curious eyes, and endless patience while waiting for mom to come back with dinner🐆🧡

It’s crazy to look at such a sweet, harmless fluff-ball and realize you’re staring right at a future apex predator. Right now, a strong breeze seems like a challenge, but in just a couple of years, he’ll own this entire canopy😌🙌

Still can’t get over how calm and cozy he looked perched up there, easily one of the most magical moments I've ever witnessed🥰✨️

We were incredibly lucky to cross paths with this magnificent southern white rhino🦏 easily one of the most elusive and challenging members of the Big Five to spot in the wild🩶

You’ll notice his horn has been trimmed. This is a vital conservation measure: rangers deliberately dehorn them to make these gentle giants worthless to poachers. Kruger National Park spans an immense ~20 000 km², and the anti-poaching teams work tirelessly across this vast wilderness day and night to keep them safe🙏

And, as always, his little companion🥰 a red-billed oxpecker, is right there by his side, hitching a ride and snacking on ticks🪰

An unforgettable encounter with a true living legend 🦏🥹🌿

9 safaris in Kruger National Park and so many unforgettable moments later 🥹✨️
Here are the 5 things I wish someone had told me before my first winter safari 🇿🇦

Swipe through the slides for the full guide 👉
1️⃣ There is no "perfect" time — nature is wild, unpredictable, and full of surprises.

2️⃣ Your gear matters — a good telephoto lens makes all the difference (swipe to see what I use!).

3️⃣ Patience is everything — animals don't perform on cue, and that’s the real beauty of it.

4️⃣ Layer up! — mornings can be freezing, while mid-days reach +30°C.

5️⃣ SPF & sun protection — the African sun is powerful even in winter and through clouds.

💡 And the golden rule: always show love and appreciation to your guides and trackers — they make the magic happen🤗🐆

A special shoutout to the incredible team at @panafricansafari.lodge and especially our amazing guide, Hope, for making this experience truly unforgettable 🙏🥰✨

I am beyond thrilled to share that the African Elephant is officially the first of the Big 5 I’ve ticked off my bucket list🐘😍

Pictures really don't do justice to how majestic these creatures are. Watching them roam freely through the savanna, moving so peacefully despite their massive size, is a feeling I’ll never forget. There is just something incredibly grounding about being in their presence🥹✨️

Which of the Big 5 is your dream to see in the wild? Let me know below! 👇

Giraffes are just unreal, seeing animals this huge move so elegantly will always blow my mind🦒✨

On the first slide, you can see the absolute cutest little giraffe calf taking in the big world🥹💛

Swipe to the next photos to see the tiny birds hitching a ride, those are Red-billed Oxpeckers. They have an amazing symbiotic relationship with African wildlife. These birds get a free ride and a buffet of ticks, while the giraffes get a much-needed spa treatment😌

Have you ever seen a giraffe in the wild? Let me know in the comments! 👇

Nature writes some of its most powerful stories in scars❤️‍🩹

This mother is missing a hand. Was it a fight in the canopy or a tragic clash with our world of speeding cars? We’ll never know...

But watch her cross this dangerous road.
Despite her injury, she carries her baby safely on her back, intensely scanning the horizon. Her missing hand doesn’t define her; her fierce determination to protect her little one does.

And then… the worry fades away!
Swipe to the last slide😉 Safely across, the little one strikes a funny, clumsy pose that can't help but make you smile🥹

Despite the odds and the scars, life doesn't just go on—it thrives❤️
