Wednesday, May 1 started on an adventurous note, it was a public holiday; independence day. The sun didn't have it easy on those of us who spent the day outdoors. You need not imagine how hell feels like if you have been cooked by the sun these past few months.

Smitten and sticky from the scorching sun, I hurried home later that day. As I drew nearer I spotted two lads rummaging through the refuse neatly packed in front of my house. By the time I got closer they had made a huge mess of the place. I was furious!

I accosted them with the aim of punishing them, but on a second thought, I decided to quiz them instead. What I discovered was unsettling, these boys feed on the proceeds they make from scavenging. One of them proudly revealed that he got his school bag and shoes from this act.

I must have shed a tear or two while these lads shared their stories. Initially, they were cold and obviously perplexed by my scrutiny, however, they soon losened up and told me their names, where they lived and the schools they attended. I told them it was okay to pick from the discarded waste but I made them promise not to leave the environment dirty.

These lads represent a large percentage of their peers in our society. For anyone who resides in neighbourhoods where many public schools are situated, you should take a thorough look at the school pupils. So many of them wear torn uniforms, worn out shoes and have no school bags.

This summer, we have decided to lend a helping hand by donating *100 uniforms, 100 school bags and 100 sandals to children in public schools.* Please help fulfil a destiny by donating to this noble cause. While we may be incapacitated to change a lot, our little/huge financial support can make a difference in a child's life.

A modern day meal ticket can change a child's uniform, replace shoes/bags hence, changing the narrative for him or her. We know we can't do everything but we can do something, so please support us today. No amount is too small.
