Every time the Omaha Film Festival is included on MovieMaker Magazine’s list of 50 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee, it means something a little different because every year, we work hard to earn it all over again.

For 21 years, OFF has focused on creating a festival experience where filmmakers feel supported, audiences are connected, and great stories shine. Being recognized again in 2026 is an honor, especially in a landscape filled with over 12,000 festivals.

What we’re most proud of is that this recognition reflects the people behind OFF...our staff, volunteers, sponsors, board, filmmakers, and the Omaha community that continues to believe in independent film and the artists who make it.

Thank you to everyone who has helped make OFF the filmmaker-first festival it continues to be. We’re excited for what’s ahead.

A big congratulations from the Omaha Film Festival to Victor Caballero on being named Interim Executive Director of the deadCenter Film Festival!

We had the pleasure of welcoming Victor and his wife to Omaha for OFF’26, where Victor screened his short film and joined our OFF Academy as a filmmaking mentor for 70 Omaha-area high school students. Victor immediately made an impression on us. He was knowledgeable, generous with his time, and incredibly kind to our students. His passion for film education and his commitment to helping young filmmakers find their voice were clear from the moment he walked into the room.

Since becoming deadCenter’s Director of Education and Outreach, Victor’s work has reached more than 63,000 students across Oklahoma, an incredible accomplishment and a reflection of the impact he continues to make.

deadCenter is Oklahoma’s largest film festival, its only Oscar-qualifying festival, and will soon celebrate its 27th year. We are excited to see Victor step into this leadership role and continue building a strong and connected filmmaking community in Oklahoma and beyond.

Congratulations, Victor! We’re proud to have had you as part of the OFF family this year, and we can’t wait to see what comes next for you and deadCenter. Your friends in Omaha are cheering you on!

Quick trip down to Waco to spend some time with our friend Louis, Executive Director of the Waco Independent Film Festival! We had a great time touring their venues, talking film festival shop, and eating some seriously amazing BBQ.

We also made a bonus stop at Baylor University to check out their incredible film program. Huge thanks to instructor and OFF alum Maverick Moore for the fantastic tour, and it was great getting the chance to meet department chair Chris Hansen as well.

Always inspiring to connect with fellow film communities and see the amazing work happening beyond Omaha.
