We’ve been through low
Been through sunshine, been through snow
All the colours of the weather

We’ve been through high
Every corner of the sky
And still we’re holding on together

You got all my love
Whether it rains or pours, I’m all yours

You’ve got all my love
Whether it rains, it remains
You’ve got all my love

So much life can change in a year but one thing that always remains is how amazing and beautiful this little guy is.
Purpose can be confusing. I have no doubts that Omry’s journey with Autism is meant for so much more. I hope that in sharing his journey, his life can touch at least one family or individual navigating the complexity that comes with all things Autism or brings awareness to those who would not know otherwise.

Life is not easy. Sometimes downright cruel.. but Omry is my rainbow on even the slightest cloudy of days and I look forward to continuing to share his journey with our family and friends.
ā¤ļøšŸŒˆ

God grant us strength and courage on this journey and order our steps that your will is done though our lives.
Amen

Introducing Omry

Omry was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder ā€œlevel 2ā€ and global delay in October of 2022.

To know Omry is to love him. He is ALWAYS smiling, clapping, dancing and being the light in any room he enters.

In the 3 short years that have been his life so far, he has overcome illness, hearing loss, and a complete speech regression and yet he continues to shine.

One thing I have learned is while building our new village there is something comforting in being able to relate to others. Knowing you are not alone can make the difference between a good and a bad day and as an Auwsome family (like many others) we have a lot of both! This is why our family feels it’s so important to share our story.

You never know who you can connect with encourage or be encouraged by with a simple share !

This year they asked me how many more years am I going to make them do this?..
The answer is ..Forever…

They may be too old to wear matching shirts , or get excited to pick out their pumpkins to carve but I hope one day they appreciate the tradition. As a mom/ bonus mom.. this right here, seeing them in the same place, so different year to year …and being able to be a part of it, is one of my favorite things on the planet ā™„ļø by @omar.autism.support

There is one thing Omry loves just as much as French fries ā€¦šŸ©

Lately Omry has been using YouTube videos to describe his feelings and ask for things he wants.

This morning he played a Paw Pateol video about donuts on repeat. Once I asked he verbally told me ā€œdonutā€ and then again used his AAC device to say ā€œdonut ā€œā€¦

Needless to say he earned himself some donuts šŸ©šŸŽ‰.#autism #aacdevice #preverbalautism by @omar.autism.support

ā€œNon verbalā€ …is not non verbal

Not only did he tell me verbally that he wanted pizza for dinner (by saying ā€œpizzaā€). But after we picked it up, he then played this YouTube ā€œpizza partyā€ video on repeat the whole drive home.

I’ve never really been worried about IF he would speak AGAIN but when and how ..and I am enjoying watching him find his voice all over again.

48 hours in Nashville to cheer on our Eagles šŸ¦…

What a game šŸ‘..Eagles won the game in the last 9 seconds !! ( seeing it live was amazing as you can see by the camera going crazy in the clipšŸ˜‚)

Carver is an amazing older brother. Most days my focus is primarily on Omry and his needs. Even when attending carvers practices, games, meets or concerts I’m still 50% focused on Omry and making sure he is tolerating the environment …

So thankful I was able to have some quality one on one time with him doing something we both love. ..Watching the Birds šŸ¦….

Proud of his independence while still listening to me and staying close by.

Grocery runs are slowly becoming much easier. When I need to take Om with me I try to go during the day when there is less of a crowd.

Practice and patience goes a long way and always leads to progress 🫶

Today I cried more than I didn’t..

I tried to get it together, but my body apparently had enough of holding it in.

I’m tired.

Despite moving like super woman, I am in fact not her. I am just a mom. Doing my best as a human also here experiencing life for the first time. Living in a life I definitely didn’t ask for, under circumstances I wouldn’t wish on my enemy.

Watching my child and feeling helpless. Comparing..wishing, dreaming. Feeling alone even in a room full of people.

This is hard. Will probably get harder ..and I will no doubt prevail, I will figure it out, I will be as super as humanly possible.

But also, every now and then I will cry. And today, was the now.

I know I’m not alone. So know if this has been you also…you are also not alone.

Remember these six little names:

Saylor.
Carter.
RJ.
John.
King.
Asher.

They aren’t statistics.

They were children.

They were loved.

They mattered.

And there are grieving families behind every one of those names.

We cannot prevent every elopement. Even the most attentive caregiver can have a child slip away in seconds.

But we CAN stop treating elopement like it’s simply a child ā€œwandering off.ā€

IT CAN BE LIFE OR DEATH.

So use the tracker.

Lock the door.

Set the alarm.

Put up the fence.

Use the safety device.

Hold on when you need to.

And instead of judging families for the lengths they go to protect a child who elopes…

HELP THEM.

Because every one of these children deserved to come home.

And I don’t want to learn another child’s name because they didn’t. šŸ’”

TAKE ELOPEMENT SERIOUSLY.

Change is hard for everyone ..but especially for Omry.
He adjusted so well after our move last year, I’m praying this one will be that and more !!

They say your second child’s favorite person won’t be their mom or their dad …

I wouldn’t have it any other way 🫶
