POSTS STORIES REELS

Our Campaign is now live🎬‼️

Support our upcoming film, Robin Hood Realty! It’s a buddy comedy about two friends struggling to afford to live in Washington D.C., who in a last-ditch effort to stay, decide to flip a house without actively gentrifying their neighborhood.

Were launching our 30-day crowdfunding campaign on @seedandspark and need your help of reaching our goal of $7,180. Click the link in our bio to donate.

If you’re not able to donate, a comment, like, and share will help us get the word about our short film. Be sure to follow us here and on Seed&Spark too as we bring this story to life.🤝

Most of you that know me know that I(with a lot of help from the incredibly talented @jeannedudekemdacoz) spent this past semester making a short documentary titled “Let it Be a Tale” about Palestinians in and around DC and the Museum of the Palestinian People(@museumpalestinianpeople).

I’m incredibly happy to share that the film will be screening Sunday June 23rd as a part of the United We Heal Film Festival in Philadelphia! If you are in Philly the festival will be at Underground Arts(1200 Callowhill St. Philadelphia 19107) from 4pm - 10pm EST, the ticket link will be in my bio! For more info check out @unitedwehealfilmfestival

So thank you to my friends for bullying me into doing a real grad shoot.

To everyone that helped me make it to this moment: Thank you so much, I love y’all so much. This didn’t always go the way I wanted to or the way I expected and it certainly wasn’t easy, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I’m so happy to have done this the long way round and it was a privilege to graduate with HU ‘25.

This weekend Let it be a Tale will be a part of HBCU First Look’s screening marathon on Friday and Saturday here at HU and at the end of the month it will screen as a part of the Festival Internacional de Cinema Escolar do Alvorada in Alvorada, Río Grande do Sul, Brazil. This means we have been accepted to festivals on four different continents where people have been able to learn and hear from the Museum of the Palestinian People (@museumpalestinianpeople) here in DC and our local Palestinian-American communities.

Additionally, the film won third place for best documentary under 15 mins at the Roshani International Film Festival in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India.

Thank you so much to @jeannedudekemdacoz for working in the trenches with me on this film every step of the way and of course to all of the people that shared their time, skills, and stories with us in the process. by @omarstandsup

To answer the “where have you been for three weeks?” question, here’s a chaotic slideshow

Slide 1: Ken’s Burn aka doc crew

Slide 2: Light up bamboo thing

Slide 3: Kind words from @jo_seitz, an art piece made of bullet riddled signs, car doors, etc. from Ukraine, and staging the trailer for an interview

Slide 4: I’m not just a sound guy

Slide 5: Another cool art piece in a dust storm

Slide 6: The @templeoftogether

Slide 7: My first day on location I found out that my cousin, Luke Salem, was killed in a car accident that morning. I also learned that the temple is a place where many people express their grief and loss. Before it burned I wrote his name on one of the temple’s lanterns to dedicate my work there to his memory. I also can’t thank our documentary crew, @randlarson, @carolineghosn and the whole temple build crew enough for supporting and taking care of me through those three weeks.

Slide 8: Thunderdome, El Pulpo Mecánico, and @coneymcconeface2024

Slide 9: @thethroneburningman and a cuttlefish shaped art car

Slide 10: Adventures in departure and the feeling of the first post playa shower

Also some edited photos(these ones and others) will be on @omartakesshots shortly. And prints at some point in the future. by @omarstandsup
